UMBC Performance, 2007-2013

There have been several UMBC winners of these scholarships in the past six years: 4 Gates Cambridge winners, 3 Goldwater winners, 1 Jack Kent Cooke winner and several Fulbright and Boren winners (with a marked rise in success when Dr. Souders became the campus representative for these scholarships in 2009). UMBC has also had 4 Truman finalists, 2 Rhodes finalists, a Marshall finalist and a Gates Cambridge finalist in this period.

What you can do:

- Let strong students know about these opportunities, and direct them to me if they have questions - Let me know about department-specific ways to get out the news about these scholarships - Let them know early- beginning an application in fall term for a UK scholarship is almost certainly too late - Serve on scholarship selection committees
