A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of the Bluegrass Chapter of the Order of DeMolay. WHEREAS, the Order of DeMolay quickly grew into the largest fraternal youth organization in the world, having enrolled more than three million members since it was founded; and WHEREAS, today there are more than fifty thousand members between the ages of twelve and twenty-one in chapters existing in eight countries, including nine chapters within the Commonwealth of Kentucky; and WHEREAS, each chapter of the Order of DeMolay is sponsored by a lodge or other body of the Ancient Order of Free and Accepted Masons or a member of the Masonic Family of Organizations; and WHEREAS, the Order of DeMolay attempts to inculcate within the young men and boys the basic tenets of love of God, love of Family, and love of Country; and WHEREAS, the Order of DeMolay acknowledges Seven Basic Principles, those being: Love of parents; Respect for others, their opinions and the things they hold sacred; Courtesy toward all with whom they come in contact; Friendship; Faithfulness; Cleanness in thought and action; and Patriotism; and WHEREAS, the Order of DeMolay provides young men and boys opportunities to participate in educational, social, and sporting activities, as well as stressing community involvement and personal growth in a safe and healthy environment; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The House of Representatives is indeed honored and privileged to acknowledge the Order of DeMolay as an outstanding organization for young men and boys, and we do hereby commend the men who serve as adult advisors to the Chapters of the Order.

Section 2. This honorable body expresses its deepest appreciation to the young men who are members of the Bluegrass Chapter of the Order of DeMolay who are serving as Pages today. Section 3. When the House of Representatives adjourns on February 1, 2000, it does so in honor of the Bluegrass Chapter of the Order of DeMolay. Section 4. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Charlie Hoffman for presentation to the Bluegrass Chapter of the Order of DeMolay.
