Writing: Students will research and write an informational piece about providing directions using an amusement theme park map

Social Studies: Students will identify elements common to many maps, including, but not limited to, coordinate grids, the compass rose, cardinal and intermediate directions, key or legends with symbols and scales and find a location on a map based on directions using at least one map elements listed

Math: Students will read and write numbers using base-ten numerals (ex: standard form) and number names (word form) through 999

Science: Students will generate questions about the world around them, record data in the form of observations using the five senses, and distinguish between observations and inferences that have been recorded Classroom Activities Reading: Read weekly story, introduce/define story new vocabulary words, students will complete narrative tree map, students complete a flow map identifying the character’s actions versus feelings

Writing: Identify elements of a map (ex: key and cardinal directions), locate 5 rides/locations they would suggest to a friend to visit when at a particular amusement park, write a paragraph

Social Studies: Discuss the purpose of a map, what the symbols are and explore a map, watch a learning about maps video, complete several map activities

Math: Watch a video of expanded form, explore three digit numbers by expressing their place value, place value four corner

Science: Science Inquiry Skills Vocabulary PowerPoint, Science Fusion Workbook, Rock Hunt investigation, Apples and Oranges comparison Assignments Due Reading: Character’s Actions vs. Feelings Flow Map-Due Thursday, Reading Comprehension Check-Due Friday
