ASLHS Application

Language can be a powerful connection between people of different cultures and backgrounds. The goal of ASL Honors Society is to promote academic achievement, provide opportunities for ASL students to practice their language, and to become allies of the Deaf community by finding opportunities to provide service.

How it works: Any ASL student is welcome to join ASLHS. Students in their final year of study, and who meet the following criteria can become formal members of ASLHS.  Be a senior in Sign 2 or Sign 3.  Have an overall GPA of at least 3.0.  Have a minimum 3.5 GPA in all ASL coursework.  Documented volunteer service that benefits the Deaf community.

Students who meet the above criteria will be inducted into ASLHS in the spring, and be granted formal membership.

Why join ASLHS?  Our school chapter of ASLHS will be working hard to provide opportunities for you to serve the deaf community. By joining now (even if you are not a senior), you will have the chance to participate in service projects and other activities in preparation for becoming a member of ASLHS in your senior year.

Membership Fee  To join Fremont’s ASHLS chapter, there is a one-time $20 fee. Your membership fee will help pay for transportation to service activities, and cover other costs associated with hosting events. It also includes an ASLSH t-shirt.

Benefits of becoming a member of ASLHS:  Mention membership in organization.  Participate in ASL literature competitions for cash prizes.  Apply for ASLHS scholarship opportunities.  Receive graduation honors for maintaining high academics and providing service to the deaf community. Applications with receipt are due December 14th in order to get the ASLHS shirt. Shirts will not be available for applications handed in after December 14th.
