LEARNING OUTCOMES : Students will be able to:

1. Describe the concepts and models of consumption and quality of life (C2)

2. Identify level of consumption and well being from various aspects and the effects of psychology, socio-cultural and technology on consumption and quality of life (C4, A3)

3. Compare various areas and indicators of quality of life (C4, P2)

4. Assess quality of life for specific groups (C6, CS, LS, TS)

SYNOPSIS : This course encompasses the concepts, models and measurements of consumption and quality of life. Comparisons of various aspects and indicators of quality of life for underdeveloped, developing and developed countries and the impact of psychological, economical, socio-cultural and technological factors on consumption and quality of life are also discussed.

5. Indicators and measurement of quality of life 4 − Indicators of Malaysia quality of life − Other quality of life indicators

6. Income distribution and quality of life 4 − Accessibility and control over resources − Concept and measurement of poverty − Incidence of poverty in Malaysia and Asia
