<p>COURSE NAME : CONSUMPTION AND QUALITY OF LIFE</p><p>COURSE CODE : PSP 4102</p><p>CREDIT : 3 (3+0)</p><p>TOTAL STUDENT LEARNING TIME : 122 hours per semester</p><p>PREREQUISITE : PSP 3000 </p><p>LEARNING OUTCOMES : Students will be able to:</p><p>1. Describe the concepts and models of consumption and quality of life (C2)</p><p>2. Identify level of consumption and well being from various aspects and the effects of psychology, socio-cultural and technology on consumption and quality of life (C4, A3) </p><p>3. Compare various areas and indicators of quality of life (C4, P2)</p><p>4. Assess quality of life for specific groups (C6, CS, LS, TS) </p><p>SYNOPSIS : This course encompasses the concepts, models and measurements of consumption and quality of life. Comparisons of various aspects and indicators of quality of life for underdeveloped, developing and developed countries and the impact of psychological, economical, socio-cultural and technological factors on consumption and quality of life are also discussed.</p><p>COURSE CONTENT Contact Hours</p><p>LECTURES : 1. Consumption concept and model 4 − Neo-classical model − Household consumption and production function − Consumption in Islam − Sustainable consumption 3. Concept of wellbeing and quality of life 2</p><p>4. Indicators and measurement of consumption 4 − Objective vs. subjective measure − Direct vs. indirect measure − General vs. domain specific measures such as ownership, consumption expenditure and disposal </p><p>5. Indicators and measurement of quality of life 4 − Indicators of Malaysia quality of life − Other quality of life indicators</p><p>6. Income distribution and quality of life 4 − Accessibility and control over resources − Concept and measurement of poverty − Incidence of poverty in Malaysia and Asia</p><p>7. Analysis of Malaysian quality of life 4</p><p>8. Issues and factor affecting consumption and quality of life 4 − Economy − Socio-culture − Psychology − Technology − Spiritual</p><p>9. Government Programs and policy 4 − Eradication of poverty − National development policy to enhance quality of life − Impact of development policy on quality of life</p><p>10.
