JOB DESCRIPTION Install, provision, test, troubleshoot, splice and maintain high-speed fiber optic transmission equipment and telecommunications circuits supporting service delivery. Perform and assist with the maintenance and configuration of all core technologies deployed. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  Install, Turn–up, Test and Provision SONET, WDM and Ethernet equipment in an optical fiber network adhering to engineered design.  Conduct and validate all testing of network equipment to ensure adherence to all Lightower procedures and equipment manufacturer’s specifications.  Work with the Network Operations Center for final acceptance and testing of all newly installed equipment and rings. Tests to include validation of all provisioning, all alarm monitoring to the NMS (Network Management System), network switch protection, etc.  Work with Fiber Optic, SONET, Ethernet and SDH related test equipment including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, BER Test Sets, Sniffers.  Perform site survey of remote locations to ensure quality installation of all racks, equipment power plants, fiber cable, etc. Report any and all defects to the Operations Manager and /or OSP Project Engineer.  Label and tag all equipment and cabling according to Network Engineering Diagrams.  Perform advanced analysis and troubleshooting of problems / issues while assisting the NOC and customers.  Participate in on-call rotation schedule for nights and weekends.  Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.  Perform both hardware and software updates and/or changes to remote site equipment as necessary.  Complete and maintain electronic records of work completed on various assignments.  Interface with customers and carriers in support of service delivery and assurance.  Work independently for extended periods of time.  Respond to Customer Troubles on 24-hour basis.  Work closely with the NOC, Sales, Engineering, and customers. JOB KNOWLEDGE  Self-motivated team player.  Excellent problem solving ability.  Solid written and verbal communications skills.  Work well in an unstructured environment. Required:  Understanding of Telecommunications infrastructure and optical design. Desired:  SONET networks and hardware.  WDM networks and hardware.  Ethernet – 10/100/1000BaseT networks and hardware  Proficiency using MS Office suite of programs. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION Required: 2 to 3 years experience:  Performing installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment  Testing and delivering high speed telecommunications services  Operating variety of telecommunications test equipment  Military or technical school training in telecommunications, electronics, and AC/DC power systems helpful Desired: 2 to 5 years experience:  Working for a telecommunications carrier  Working on Juniper MX/EX nodes, MRV Ethernet nodes, Lucent DMX SONET nodes, ADVA FSP3000/2000 DWDM devices, Nortel 6500 DWDM devices.  CCNA Certification (or equivalent)  Working with Layer 3 MPLS Networks ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Valid drivers’ license and excellent driving record.  After hours and weekend availability for cell phone contact and callouts as required.  Must pass drug screening and background check. Responsibilities • Lead installation teams and mentor junior installers and technicians to ensure project deadlines, timely service and quality standards are met • Install, terminate and test DC power at the equipment and battery distribution fuse bay (BDFB) • Install and terminate ground cables to all equipment cabinets, equipment and cable racks • Install CAT5 patch cables and fiber trough, fiber optic cable from patch panel to patch panel, ladder rack and associated iron work to support the rack, cabinets in cement floor with seismic anchors, and different types of equipment in the cabinets and power it up • Label all cabinets and cables to industry standards • Provide a high level of customer service ensuring that any escalations or concerns are completed as requested and addressed in a professional and courteous manner • Provide proactive updates on job progress to management and customers • Work with detailed engineering drawings and rack layout diagrams; Redline the documents as required • Inventory all job related materials and assist with inventory control as required • Perform additions, removals, wiring connections and modifications on working equipment • Work both indoors and outdoors at the customer location, assuming responsibility of job site safety • Ensure all power and ground cables are laced with 9 cord • May perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements • Minimum of 6 years installation/testing experience. Must have the abilities of a Lead Installer • Familiarity with Telcordia’s GR-1275 and/or ATT TP76300 installation standards is preferred • In-depth technical knowledge of current telecommunication products with minimal training is required • Previous experience working in the field independently and thriving in a fast-paced environment; self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize workloads with little direction • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal • A positive, “can-do” attitude and customer focused approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license • Must have an maintain a clear driver’s history • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements

Work Conditions • This is a home-based position that requires travel to multiple locations. Required Skills: • Proficiency in primary skills of customer relations, basic electricity, basic electronics, basic telephony, radio principles for CDMA/GSM/UMTS/LTE, and basic principles of digital transmission, fiber communication, data communication, telephony terminology, industry standards, and on-line network control/maintenance systems • Proven experience in installing new cell site equipment from vendors including Ericsson, Lucent and Cisco, from channel card elements up to complete new cell site installs • Able to follow detailed method of procedures (MOP) and practices to perform routine maintenance on all radio interface equipment • Perform Service Assurance work on all radio interface network elements. Interpret the alarm conditions on the network to proactively identify and implement repairs and restoration plans to ensure minimal service disruption and impact to customer • Ability to show proficiency with use of relevant wireless tools and test equipment along with inventory tools and procedures • Able to trouble shoot AC and DC power systems including tower light controllers • Knowledge of basic Microwave principals

Job Requirements: • Vocational Skills and procedural knowledge, typically gained through a combination of education and relevant experience totaling up to 2 years post-high school or equivalent • Familiarity with field operations specific trouble ticket and network database systems • Previous experience working wireless networking system • Confirmation of travel requirement - 100% for Technicians but flexible to travel outside of market for weeks at a time if required (e.g. disaster recovery, new product roll-out, etc) • Must be able to work outside of normal business hours (ie: shift work), to include maintenance window and weekends if needed, 24/7 On Call required • Ability to identify all colors associated with telecommunications cable and equipment indicator lights • Basic computer skills • A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive long distances on and off road, a CDL classification may be required for some vehicles, travel required • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., ability to climb ladders and steep staircases, ability to work in remote and challenging locations including, but not limited to: rooftops, vaults, and all types of geographic locations, possess the dexterity to connect and disconnect various sizes and types of electronic connectors

Splicer Technician Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: • Performs tasks necessary for service order and repair activity associated with sealed/unused network facilities (copper and fiber) from central office frames to CPE systems. • Installs, maintains, and repairs OSP equipment/facilities and inside wire. Locates cable and associated equipment faults, effects repair, and restores service outages. Performs cable pair recovery activity. • Utilizes various test equipment such as the 3M INS 970, 3M 965 AMS Pro 30, to analyze equipment trouble and takes appropriate maintenance action • Interprets schematical work order drawings to determine job specifications, material and equipment requirements and establish a plan of operation. • Splices, terminates, connects, cuts off and removes cables, station service drops and wires, cross-connect wires, pressure pipes and tubings, terminals, blocks, frames, protectors, carrier repeaters, flowraters, pressure manifolds, transducers, dams, loading coils, capacitors, etc. • Maintains records, prepares reports and corrects work order drawings to as built plant. • Performs a battery of quality tests for new and in place facilities.

Work Requirements: • 40 hours per week; plus overtime as needed. Subject to unscheduled callouts. • Weekday, weekend, and holiday work including day, evening, and night hours. • Indoor-outdoor work. Exposed to adverse weather conditions, confined work areas, dust, noise, dirt, challenging customers, etc. • Exposed to high voltage, electrical power lines, explosive and/or flammable liquids and gases, oxygen deficiency, carbon monoxide, lead toxity and asbestos materials. Works with molten lead and wax.

Experience/Skill: • Have a minimum of 5 years experience as a copper splicer and 5 years as a fiber splicer. • Ability to identify and distinguish colors. • Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical wiring diagrams. • Able to operate test equipment such as 3M 965AMS , and 3M INS970. Physical Requirements: • Ability to work in confined areas for long periods of time. • Ability to climb poles/ladders safely. • Ability to lift, carry, set-up, and take down ladders. • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.

Other Requirements: • Must successfully complete a criminal and drug background check. • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
