We got our U14 league Div. 2 off to a great start on Wednesday 5/4/17, played in the John Mitchell's pitch we played against Roche Emmett's. We had 16 lads at our disposal and they were looking forward to getting this league campaign underway. Roche had 19 players which afforded them the luxury of bringing on some fresh legs but our lads were ready for them. We got off to a great start when Jack Dunne hit the Roche net with a very well worked score and with a brace of points from Jamie Durnin we were setting the early pace. Roche did reply with a goal of their own but our defence was in great form and kept their attacking options to a minimum. We went in at half Time leading 2-4 to 1-4.
The 2nd half couldn't have started any better when Sean Reynolds hit the net for us and with our forwards playing some lovely passes together they started to split the Roche defence apart. Another goal from Harry Butterly soon after sealed this win and we even managed to miss a penalty but Roche could just get no attack going much to the credit of our defence. The game finished on a score line of O’Connell's/ Stabannon 4-12 to Roche 1-4.
Great win and start for us but this is a long campaign and with much harder games to come we will be keeping our feet firmly on the training pitch. Well done lads next game in 2 weeks v Glyde/Sean's combination
