Lossburg. The 25th anniversary of the Arburg subsidiary in Singapore was roundly celebrated on 10 May 2013 during an exclusive evening event. Around 90 guests responded to the invitation from David Chan, who, as Managing Director of the Singapore subsidiary, is responsible for the entire ASEAN region. Arburg Managing Partner Juliane Hehl and Managing Director Sales, Helmut Heinson travelled to Singapore especially to attend the anniversary celebrations.

Juliane Hehl and Helmut Heinson saluted David Chan for the 25th anniversary of the Arburg subsidiary, while also extending congratulations on behalf of the Hehl family, the Partners and the Management Team, as well as the entire staff at the Arburg headquarters in Lossburg. Juliane Hehl thanked David Chan and his team for their longstanding and successful dedication in the ASEAN region and presented him with a special commemorative sculpture to mark the 25th anniversary of the subsidiary. She also paid tribute to Service Technician Low Chang Kin, who has also been working for Arburg for 25 years.

Around 90 guests celebrate the silver anniversary The eminent guest list was an indication of the high profile that Arburg enjoys in the ASEAN region, thanks to decades of activity. This was also reflected in the entire organisation of the jubilee event, which David Chan smilingly describes as “one of the greatest challenges in my whole time at Arburg.” The extremely positive feedback from the guests from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia is evidence that his efforts paid off. Guests particularly welcomed the opportunity to meet Arburg Managing Partner Juliane Hehl and her daughter in person. Another positive was the exclusive atmosphere of the “Salt Grill & Sky Bar” and the diverse entertainment programme including various games in which a number of iPads could be won as prizes. At the end of the evening, each guest received a personal photo to commemorate the unforgettable anniversary event marking “25 years of ARBURG in Singapore”.

A 25-year success story The Arburg subsidiary in Singapore was founded on 11 May 1988, initially as a Technical Support Centre, before

Page 2 of 5 being transformed into an independent sales and service centre for the entire ASEAN region in 1992. This development was highly positive for David Chan: “The creation of a regional sales organisation gave our business there a definite boost in terms of customer confidence. Subsequently, the regional offices in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia were further developed with regard to infrastructure and personnel.”

Growing medical technology segment While, in the beginning, customers were mainly drawn from the electrical and electronics sectors, the focus is now on companies that produce precision medical technology parts. “The medical technology segment in particular has grown continuously in recent years,” says David Chan, who goes on to explain the technical requirements of this challenging industry: “Singapore is a niche market for medical technology and other high-end products. This is why, here, we mainly require small and precise servo-electric machines that operate both reliably and energy-efficiently. These are precisely the machines in Arburg’s portfolio and the company is known as a leading manufacturer in the region. “This has created the conditions for continuously growing sales in the ASEAN countries over the past 25 years.

Hidrive opens door to the packaging industry “Arburg has always responded to current market trends with the appropriate products,” says David Chan proudly, naming the hybrid Hidrive machine series as one of many
