Student Leadership Team is a group of students who want to make a difference at Gorman Learning Center- Antelope Valley and in their community. The students will learn leadership skills as directed by the Leadership Adviser. The team will be involved in community service, student government and city government along with communicating with the GLC administration on student ideas and concerns. Each student must have a reputation of excellence in behavior and academics. Space is limited and only 12-15 placements will be made per year. Class meets Mondays 9-11am. In addition, team members are required to attend class field trips as well as participate in LC activities. Student Leadership is a privilege and placement will be revoked if any student fails to meet the requirements.
Requirements
Entering 9-12 grade 3.0 grade average or higher Letter of recommendation from IST emailed to LC Supervisor Recommendation from LC Supervisor and/or Leadership Adviser Free from drugs or alcohol No previous suspensions/expulsions or behavior issues Completed essay Regular attendance to all Leadership team activities
Students may receive high school credits for involvement in this class; this must be pre- arranged with the student’s IST. A log must be turned into their IST every month. Credit will not be granted to any student who repeatedly does not participate in leadership activities.
