ADDENDUM TO CON STUDENT HANDBOOKS

TRANSCRIPTS:

For students enrolled in classes that started after July 1, 2014, a Pass ("P") or No-Pass ("NP") grade will appear on the transcripts as stated in the CON Student Handbooks. A grade point average (GPA) will appear on the transcript for students enrolled in the ABSN July 2014, BSN August 2014 and ABSN October 2014 cohorts based on the language in the Student Handbook. The Registrar's Office will include a signed letter from the Dean (verbiage below) which explains how a “P” is equated with a 4.0 GPA in Roseman's P/NP grading system. This letter will be submitted to the external agency in the same sealed envelope as the official transcript. The letter will not be given to the student.

Students enrolled in cohorts that started after October 2014 would receive a Pass ("P") or No-Pass ("NP") grade. For students who were enrolled, withdrew, and were re-admitted to a cohort that started after October 2014, grades earned after this date will be recorded using the "P"/"NP" system. If a student requires a GPA in addition to an official transcript as part of the admissions criteria for graduate programs or other external entities, he/she should contact the Registrar's office. The Registrar's Office will include a signed letter from the Dean (verbiage below) which explains how a “P” is equated with a 4.0 GPA in Roseman's P/NP grading system. Please review this explanation of Roseman University’s College of Nursing’s educational model and grading system prior to reviewing a candidate’s transcript. Thank you.

The College of Nursing embraces a competency-based educational philosophy in which all students are held to high standards of academic performance. A mastery model of education is used that requires a student to achieve a score of 90% or greater on each learning activity, including assessments to receive a grade of Pass (“P”). In this educational system, scores for learning activities are never averaged nor graded on a curve. Students can only earn a grade of Pass (“P”) or No-Pass (“NP”). Likewise, there is not a range in a numerical GPA value. Thus, a student who receives a 90% or greater (“P”) is considered to have earned a 4.0 GPA.
