4 WORKING TIME (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2006 – OPT OUT

The Working Time Regulations 1998 (Amended 2006) make it a requirement for employers to not exceed an individual workers hours by 48hours per week. Some roles may on occasion require weekly hours to exceed this amount and it is therefore necessary to gain workers agreement to opt out of this restriction.

If you are 18 or over and wish to work more than 48 hours a week, you can choose to opt out of the 48 hour limit. This decision is entirely voluntary but you must put agree in writing. It can't be an agreement with the whole workforce and your statutory rights would not be effected (for example refused promotion or overtime) for refusing to sign an opt-out.

5 CSCS QUALIFICATION

It is now compulsory for our guards who work in the construction sector to have a CSCS qualification. This is to ensure the health and safety of yourselves and others on construction sites and to verify your credibility as a security guard.

The CSCS qualification is NOT optional, and failure to agree may affect your application process. To obtain this qualification you must undergo an examination. This will be arranged by Servest Security Services ltd on your behalf. The cost incurred for the examination is £17.30 followed by the application for the CSCS card costing £30.00.

Unless you advise us otherwise, this amount and any additional fees for subsequent examinations will initially be paid for by Servest Security ltd and the amount paid will be a loan to yourself from Servest Security Ltd. Once you have undergone the examination this loan will be repaid by deduction from your wage.

If you do not attend the examination the full £47.50 charge will be incurred again, or should you unfortunately fail, a further cost of £17.50 incurred by Servest Security Ltd on your behalf will be deducted, again by way of repayment of loan, for every re-test thereafter. This revision material is in CD-ROM or Book format, Servest Security Services Ltd will provide the revision material to study for this exam. This must then be returned to Head Office once you have completed your examination. Failure to return this revision material will result in a £25.00 penalty.

6 SIA LICENSE

It is compulsory for our guards to have a SIA License, this is to verify your credibility as a security guard.

You will need to provide your own SIA License prior to being employed as a Security Guard with Servest.

When your SIA license expires the company may renew your license on your behalf. However the cost of renewal will be recovered by deduction from your wages over the following 3 months in three equal payments.

7 SECURITY DIVISION CODE OF CONDUCT

We recognise just how important our security officers are, and the role they play in securing and maintaining positive relationships with our customers. The majority of our officers act all times with integrity and professionalism and we do expect high standards of courtesy, dress and hygiene from all our team. There are certain behaviour standards that we must enforce, if we are to ensure that our customers receive the best possible experience from all our officers.

With integrity, the following points are brought to your attention:

 Each month we make awards to various security officers whom have performed above and beyond our high standards for our customers.

 Officers who introduce customers to us will qualify for a special bonus of up to £1000 for any customer who is successfully introduced and becomes a client for Servest Security Services Ltd

We always wish to ensure that any guard wage queries are dealt with professionally and promptly. Servest Security Services Ltd utilise the industry leading Innovise guard management system, which calculates our officers pay each month. The key reasons for wage queries include working different hours to those directed by operations and unauthorised holidays.

 In the event that you do have a wage query with regards to your tax code or holidays please contact our payroll department.

 In the event that you have a wage query with regards to your hours or pay rates please write to our operations department.

 Officers must wear their valid SIA licence at all times whilst on duty.

 If an officer leaves our employment without providing their contractual notice required, a penalty of £80 per week will be deducted from your final wage to contribute towards our additional costs in fulfilling the officer’s duties for every week they do not fulfil of their notice.

 All security officers are required to make check calls every 30 or 60 minutes as directed in Assignment Instructions using the automated Time Link system.

 All officers must ensure that they work the rotas provided by operations. If guards deviate from their agreed rota’s and subsequently raise a pay query this will not be rectified.

 During each shift you are entitled to paid breaks totalling one hour (two 15 minutes breaks and one 30 minute break), whilst remaining on site should your attention be required.

 All items of uniform must be in your possession whilst working on shift, and used as directed by individual sites rules.

8  The Employer will be entitled to recover from you as a contractual penalty the cost of providing you with the uniform if you leave this employment and fail to return it, as required. The current cost of the uniform is £86.42

 Holiday requests should be raised with your line Manager on the Servest Security Services Ltd holiday request form, obtainable from our HR department and in every site file. Holiday requests should be made at least 28 days in advance. 14 days maximum in period will only be permitted unless special permission has been granted.

 Any queries in relation to any aspect of your contract of employment should be addressed directly with your Line Manager in the first instance. It will be considered a matter of misconduct or gross misconduct if these queries are raised with our clients, or our client’s employees. Should you have any grievance these should be made in writing in accordance with the company’s grievance procedure as set out in your employment contract.

 Any misrepresentations of Servest Security Services Ltd, to our clients or our clients employees will be considered a matter of gross insubordination and subject you to our disciplinary procedures.

 All patrols must be conducted as directed by Servest Security Services Ltd and the client.

 You will be required to remain on site for up to 2 hours beyond the end of a normal shift or until the relief officer is in attendance.

 We expect our security officers to represent themselves, our clients and indeed Servest Security Services Ltd with integrity, enthusiasm and professionalism at all times. In return we promise that you that you are valued, treated with respect, and fundamental to the future success of your business.

9 Security Division Application Pack – Checklist

 A valid Passport or Full Length Birth Certificate.  Right to Work permit (if applicable).  Proof of address - Utility Bill or Bank Statement dated within the last 3 months.  National Insurance Card (if you do not have a NI Card you may use an official letter from Inland Revenue or Job Centre).  Valid SIA Licence.  Driving License - both card and paper copy (if applicable).  4 Passport Photos.  Full 5 year checkable history - there must be no gaps within the list, must include full addresses and active telephone numbers.  2 Character References – must provide full names, addresses and contact numbers.  Emergency contact details – full name, relationship and contact number.
