My Name Is Malu Bender

Mrs. Amy Schwebke CCDE 110N General Composition Sec. 2 Dona Ana Community College Las Cruces, NM 88003-8001

Dear Mrs. Schwebke,

My name is Malu Bender. I am a student at Dona Ana Community College for three semesters. It took me a long time to decided to finish college. I started before but I never finished because of financial, personal problems and the most of all because I was afraid, it never was finished. I was afraid because I did not know what I wanted to be, because four or six years seem so long, because I could not afford it. Life happens so fast and many others priorities came between the studies for those who are insecure. I am very good in fast decisions; college is not one of the kinds. It takes patience, planning and we must be confident. I did not have those characteristics. It did happen to me, but took me almost 25 years to realize that I could confront many things in my life, why not college? Here I am, and I can’t be more satisfied. I am after something that is already giving me positives results. Life has been though like always, but somehow I am stronger than ever and I know it is just because I am studding. I have a plan, not just to finish college, but to succeed in my career. It is a long walk for my shoes. I have a full time job so I have to do college part time, it will take me longer than I would like. I also have serious financial problems, and this semester my financial AID did not paid. I wasn’t aware of it; financial AID does not pay for summer classes. I dropped one of them and decided to take English 110 only so I can manage to pay it. I can describe how much I learned this semester, I am finishing English 110 and I am doing well. I learn how to put my ideas together, so my writing is much more clear. I learned the process of selecting the best of drafts and make good Essays. We share with colleagues’ ideas and helped each other in our papers, performing this way the challenge skill of team work. I did have the luck to be taught by a very efficient teacher, you Mrs. Schwebke are very knowledgeable and resourceful, which makes it easy to learn. I do believe grades are more than just a test, it is an overall concept that involves been open and determinate to learn. And so, I believe that is why I did well in you class, because I want to learn everything that is been taught. I have been restless studding, being present and active in class to improve my skills. So far I am accomplishing my goals. I know more challenging classes will become, but if I have the chance to continue to have educators like you, it will be fun to persuade. I try to keep a high performance as a student, because in this exactly moment of my life is what I want to be, a great student. I would like to thank you for all the work done from my teacher and office staff, who are guiding me, through my decisions in what road to take to accomplish my degree. I will give back as much as possible with my best work and dedication.

Sincerely,

Maria de Lourdes Bender de Randazzo Malu
