4 Protection  Salsette: 220 kV TR-Sal- 1 ,2 & Kalwa-Sal-1, 2 lines:Main-II System / relays Distance Relays of Siemens make Distance Relay in place of ABB make RAZOA relays. Commissioning.  Parel: Parel DT-6 & 7 Buchholtz alarm & trip contacts put in series for Trip.  Borivli: Auto reclosure relays commissioned on 110 kV Bor- Malad lines- 1 & 2 to facilitate line outage for reconductoring.  Malad: Line Under Voltage scheme commissioned on 110 kV Bor- Malad-1 & 2 as a part of autoreclosure scheme. 5 Metering  BEST feeder wise meters were commissioned at Grant Road & activities Back Bay.  Site visits for AMR project implementation  Meeting with MERC regarding provision of meters for TPC-D & TPC-G.  02 BEST feeders Dharavi retrofitting job completed.  No of meters re-programmed for TOD as per MERC directive: Meter reprogramming for TOD as per new tariff order Secure Meters - 2 nos, Spectra Meters - 12 nos, L&T BVMs - 1660 nos.  52 Nos. of Spectra meters (with communication defect) are replaced.  Defective meters were replaced at J.P.Morgan, Intelent & ELECTRICAL TESTING AND AUTOMATION DIVISION Page No. 3 of 10 MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT MONTH: January YEAR: 2007

Landmark.  Direct summation metering scheme commissioned at BDB.  DAS meters were commissioned in series with existing Check meters at 5 locations.  SAP trials to include TOD changes in billing. New Register Groups created for TOD feature.  Acceptance Test on Meter Reading instrument (CMRI) in Lab.  Meeting with REL regarding replacement of Billing Meters.  Visit to the consumer "Hutch" fed from Morarji Gokuldas#1 S/S to resolve Power Quality Issues.  Commissioning of Meters (4 nos.) for recording construction activities of Unit#8  Joint Testing of ABT Meters of MSETCL along with L&T Engineer in Trombay Lab. Follow up with MSETCL for ABT Meter Panel modifications.

D. MAJOR OCCURRENCES & INVESTIGATION: -

DIVISION OCCURRENCES / INVESTIGATION Parel s/s  On 04/01/07, 22kV Bus Fault zone-II relay operated. Investigation revealed failure of C-phase CT in Feeder-62 due to ageing. At the same time, Trf-7 also tripped by Buchholtz relay mal-operation on oil surge. Buchholtz trip circuit has been modified to have alarm and trip contacts in series to prevent operation on oil surge, as an interim measure for both Trfs- 6 & 7. New Buchholtz relays of better design are being procured. Mahalaxmi S/S  On 14/01/07, 22kV Bus-II got shutdown due to operation of zone-II Bus fault relay. Trf-3 also tripped by Differential relay. Investigation revealed bursting of A & B phase poles of Trf-3 LT breaker-2 (22kV ABB make type HPA) due to insulation failure. Detailed investigation is being carried out alongwith ABB.

Vikhroli S/S  On 22/01/07, 110kV Bus Fault Zone-2 operated due failure A-phase CGL make LA on the bus.

Malad S/S  On 28/01/07, 110kV Bor-Malad line-2 tripped inadvertently during trials for commissioning of U/V scheme on Bor-Malad-1. The procedure for trial operation is being reviewed. Bhivpuri G/S  On 04/01/07 at 10.39 hrs, Unit no. 9 tripped on excitation problem. Investigation revealed failure of the inverter which was feeding 415 VAC auxiliary supply to excitation control. The standby 415 VAC supply did not come in service because of gradual voltage drop of inverter output. The unit was taken into service on standby auxiliary supply at 12.31 Hrs. after removing the damaged inverter. New inverter unit was installed and taken in service on 5/01/07 after necessary trials . Bhira G/S  On 29/01/07, BPSU 200 MVA GT, which was kept backcharged from 220kV, tripped on 11 KV Earth fault protection. The GT was charged after checking IR of 11kV circuit. Open delta voltage appearing across the 11kV E/F relay is ELECTRICAL TESTING AND AUTOMATION DIVISION Page No. 4 of 10 MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT MONTH: January YEAR: 2007

possibly due to voltage unbalance caused by capacitive effect or high resistance grounding of PT neutral on primary side. The relay setting is also being reviewed. Consumer s/s  On 05/01/07, Morarji Gokuldas-1, HBB breakers and Station Battery, At the time of occurrence, even though bus fault relay operated, breaker did not trip. Observed battery was discharged and trip coil of the breaker was burned. Replaced the trip coil and battery.  On 23/01/07, GC-1 Feeder at BKC, Feeder tripped by B/U E/F inst. 7SJ pickup did not appear. Found that B/U E/F setting was kept low. 7SJ600 relay found OK.  On 27/01/07, Western Sector-1 (BARC), Transformer tested OK. Fault was on one of the 415V O/G feeder. Consumers LV relay setting was on the higher side. Hence transformer must have tripped on VIP35 E/F.

E. FAULTS / ABNORMALITIES DETECTED DURING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING:-

A total of 22 Calls were attended in January 2007.. NELCO Engineers were associated for attending to 6 calls with TPC Engineers, 3calls were attended by only NELCO and 13 calls were attended by TPC. 2. MAJOR INVESTIGATION & OCCURRENCES: -

The Jan 07 Khopoli division has been advised to take corrective action by blocking the cable entries in the panel as well as room. Maintaining and Checking of proper and adequate Air Conditioning for the Carrier Rooms in their division.

Thereby WAN bandwidth for Khopoli, Lonavala & Bhivpuri is now 100 Mbps. Jan 07 WEB based Communication Call Center launched in Jan 07 Jan 07 WEB based Global Telephone Directory launched in Jan 07 2. Distribution Automation System Jan 2007 84 DAS stations out of 87 have gone online on CDMA.
