SPRING MILLS PRIMARY NEWS MAY 2015

IMPORTANT NOTES

P.E. FIELD DAY - Please remember to wear your sneakers and apply sunscreen at home before coming to school. All parents are welcome to attend the outdoor events, however no younger siblings during volunteer time. Thank you for your understanding.

LIBRARY REMINDER – Library books are being collected this month during regular Library class time. Please make sure your child remembers to bring their Library book with them on their scheduled day.

PTA REFLECTIONS WINNERS – Spring Mills Primary had three students who placed at the state level in the PTA Reflections program. Brianna Nair placed 1st in the Literature Primary Division, Ethan Norton placed 2nd in the Literature Primary Division, and Bryce Cookus placed 2nd in the Photography Primary Division. Congratulations to all three students for their winning projects!

GUIDANCE – CORE ESSENTIALS - The values that have been covered are Responsibility, Creativity, Gratitude, Generosity, Commitment, Kindness, Patience, and Peace. The value for May is Honesty and the animal that represents this value is the Canada Goose. Please look for the monthly guidance newsletter from Mrs. Jennings, our school counselor.

TREX DECK RECYCLING - Thank you to all who participated in the plastic recycling program. Our school collected 655 pounds of plastic (1.5 lbs. per student). We look forward to your participation and support next year. We will begin collecting again in October.

REPORT CARDS – Please note that report cards will not be issued before June 9th and may be picked up in the school office until Friday, June 12, 2015. Report cards will not be mailed.

BEDINGTON RURITAN POSTER CONTEST - The Bedington Ruritan Club sponsored a Patriotic Themed Poster Contest. Congratulations to our school winners, Gearson Werner, Mrs. Lauffer’s first grade; Emma White, Mrs. Griffith’s second grade; and Isaiah Griffin, Mrs. Browning’s kindergarten class. All winners will receive a $25 award and certificate.

THANK YOU PARENT VOLUNTEERS – The breakfast and lunch hosted by our PTA for Kindergarten Registration was fantastic! We appreciate what our PTA does for Spring Mills Primary. We also want to thank all of our parent volunteers for their service to our school and students throughout the school year.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS – Parents who enrolled a new kindergarten student for the 2015-2016 school year and have not submitted all required documents, may bring them into the school office between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. until Friday, June 12th. If your child’s immunization records were not complete, your doctor’s office may FAX any updated information to (304) 274-5807.
