The winery name Sine Qua Non in Latin for “Absolutely indispensable “or literally “without which not”. Not only do all the wines have different blends year after year, but each wine has a unique name. Wine labels and bottle shape were created and designed by Manfred Krankl himself. His wine and bottles became hand crafted works of art. This wonderful tradition has continued to this day, making Sine Qua Non a truly unique wine and winery every year. Sine Qua Non has used a variety of vineyard sources over the years, mostly from the Santa Maria Valley, Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Rita Hills. Much of their grapes comes from their own vines planted in the Santa Rita Hills named Eleven Confessions Vineyard. It is made up of primarily Syrah and Grenache with some Roussanne and a tiny bit of Viognier. The vineyards are rather cool, and berries are often picked late. This allows a longer and more complex maturation of the grape. The huge global demand is based on the critical acclaim for almost all the wine being produced. It takes years to get onto the mailing list and the wines almost never come back onto the market once purchased. Older vintages are occasionally sold at auction for stratospheric prices. WHITE WINE “The Hoodoo Man” is remarkable for a wine of power and intensity, primarily from the Eleven Confessions vineyards. “Body & Soul” is an energetic and fuller style of Roussanne. “The Moment” is rich, viscous, full-bodied richness with depth and balance. “In The Abstract” main grape is Chardonnay, it shows bright golden color, incredible notes of caramelized peaches, poached apples with a deep and long finish. Gorgeous, majestic, with a voluptuousness texture, “Deux Grenouilles” shows the exotic aromatic contributions of the Viognier and Muscat. US547 Sine Qua Non "The Hoodoo Man" 2006 585 39% Roussanne, 31% Viognier, 30% Chardonnay. US548 Sine Qua Non "Body & Soul" 2007 540 71% Roussanne, 29% Viognier US549 Sine Qua Non "The Moment" 2011 500 57% Roussanne, 19% Petit Manseng, 17% Chardonnay, 7% Viognier US550 Sine Qua Non "In The Abstract" 2012 450 37% Chardonnay, 31% Roussanne, 16% Petite Manseng, 16% Viognier US551 Sine Qua Non "Deux Grenouilles" 2016 440 36% Roussanne, 29% Chardonnay, 23% Viognier, 9% Petite Manseng, 3% Muscat < M > : Exclusive for Members only. E: [email protected] W: park90.com Facebook / Instagram: park90winebar 2 of 4 [ Park90 Exclusive ] Sine Qua Non RED WINE "Raven" Grenache are mostly grown from their own 11 Confessions Vineyard. The wine is perfumed with pepper spice, blackberry and dark cherries. The finish is long lasting with ripe and juicy tannins. "Labels" Syrah is made mainly with their own vineyards with some grapes sourced from Bien Nacido and White Hawk. This wine is rich and opulent and with a firm grip! The deep, muscular, concentrated and layered "Dark Blossom" Syrah. Grenache "Stein" impresses us for its textural beauty and nuance. The blockbuster-styled 2012 Syrah "Stock" shows pronounced structure and weight. Manfred Krankl always describes Grenache as a female and Syrah as male. That's how his idea of varietals was written in the name of wine, “ Female” 2013 Grenache shows profound dark fruit, graphite, spices, savory herbs, and lavender. A unique blend of Touriga Nacional, “Le Chemin Vers L'Heresie” is bold, velvety tannins with nose of violets, kirsch, blueberry compote and dark chocolate. And finally, you can also meet the newest vintage of Grenache “Profuga” and Syrah “Ziehharmonika” that all Sine Qua Non lovers have been waiting for at Park90! US552 Sine Qua Non "Raven Series" Grenache 2006 680 90% Grenache, 10% Syrah US557 Sine Qua Non "Raven Series" Syrah 2006 680 93% Syrah, 5% Grenache, 2% Viognier US558 Sine Qua Non "Labels" Syrah 2007 625 89% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 4% Viognier US559 Sine Qua Non "Dark Blossom" Syrah 2011 550 84% Syrah, 8% Grenache, 4% Petite Sirah, Roussanne, Petite Manseng US553 Sine Qua Non "Stein" Grenache 2012 530 76% Grenache, 16% Syrah, 8% Mourvedre US560 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Syrah 2012 555 84% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Petit Sirah, 1% Mourvèdre, 2% Viognier US554 Sine Qua Non "Female" Grenache 2013 530 78% Grenache, 19% Syrah, 3% Mourvèdre US556 Sine Qua Non "Le Chemin Vers L'Heresie" Grenache 2015 500 75% Grenache, 13% Mourvèdre, 8% Touriga Nacional, 4% Petite Sirah US477 Sine Qua Non "Profuga" Grenache 2018 440 77.5% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 8.3% Syrah, 3.3% Petite Sirah, 0.9% Viognier US476 Sine Qua Non "Ziehharmonika" Syrah 2018 440 82% Syrah, 6.7% Mourvèdre, 5.0% Petite Sirah, 2.3 % Grenache, 2.7% Viognier, 1.3% Muscat < M > : Exclusive for Members only. E: [email protected] W: park90.com Facebook / Instagram: park90winebar 3 of 4 “ The new star of Mosel “ Weingut Markus Molitor Markus Molitor began with just 1.5 hectares of vineyards in 1984. Over the past 37 years, his holdings have grown to 120 hectares and Markus Molitor is now the largest privately-owned winery, family-run vineyard in the Mosel region. 75% of his vineyards are in Grand-Cru sites along the Middle Mosel River and 25% are in the Saar River region. His wines are best known for their aromatic depth and fine minerality. Fermentation is long and begins with native yeasts inside stainless steel vats. The wines are left on their lees for many months during which time they develop excellent structure, freshness, and remarkable longevity. Markus Molitor’s wines (Auslese, Kabinett, and Spätlese) have three different capsules to distinguish the wine’s taste. White cap indicates dry wines, Gray-Green cap indicates off-dry wines, and gold capsule indicates sweet and botrytis wines. The “Ürziger Würzgarten” site is traditionally considered to be a specialty among the Middle Mosel vineyards due to its red iron-rich soil mixed with fine slate. It is very mineral and savory on the nose rather than floral but much rounder, oilier, fleshier, and less linear in texture. The Saar region is cooler than Middle Mosel and only south facing slopes can reach adequate ripeness. His two-single vineyard cuvées are noticeable. “Ockfener Bockstein” wines tend to have the nose of elderflower, mint, and wet stony elements with wonderful richness and roundness. “Saarburger Rausch” Auslese shows a well- integrated and elegant palate. And also Wehlener Klosterberg, the heart of their vineyards can find elegant style of Pinot Blanc (Weissburgunder). He soon enlarged his holdings by contracting numerous metayage agreements with the Thomas-Moillard family. The Domaine has an impressive array of vineyards centred around Vosne-Romanée, their flagship wines are the Romanée Saint Vivant and 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts which are wines with and with exceptional persistence. Sebastien’s philosophy has always been that hard work in the vineyards is the key parameter for making great wines. So, his wines are renowned for their natural harmony of flavors, good volume, remarkable smooth texture and balance between ripeness

  • Lamorinda AVA Petition
PETITION TO ESTABLISH A NEW AMERICAN VITICULTURAL AREA TO BE NAMED LAMORINDA The following petition serves as a formal request for the establishment and recognition of an American Viticultural Area to be named Lamorinda, located in Contra Costa County, California. The proposed AVA covers 29,369 acres and includes nearly 139 acres of planted vines and planned plantings. Approximately 85% of this acreage is occupied or will be occupied by commercial viticulture (46 growers). There are six bonded wineries in the proposed AVA and three additional growers are planning bonded wineries. The large number of growers and relatively limited acreage demonstrates an area characterized by small vineyards, a result of some of the unique characteristics of the area. This petition is being submitted by Patrick L. Shabram on behalf of Lamorinda Wine Growers Association. Wineries and growers that are members of the Lamorinda Wine Growers Association are listed in Exhibit M: Lamorinda Wine Growers Association. This petition contains all the information required to establish an AVA in accordance with Title 27 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 9.3. List of unique characteristics: All viticulture limited to moderate-to-moderately steep slopes carved from of uplifted sedimentary rock. Geological rock is younger, less resistant sedimentary rock than neighboring rock. Other surrounding areas are areas of active deposition. Soils in Lamorinda have higher clay content, a result of weathered claystone. The topography allows for shallow soils and good runoff, reducing moisture held in the soil. Despite its position near intrusions of coastal air, Lamorinda is protected from coastal cooling influences. Daytime microclimates are more dependent on slope, orientation, and exposure, leading to a large number of microclimates.

  • Murrieta's Well: Historical Timeline
MURRIETA’S WELL: HISTORICAL TIMELINE 1850s Joaquin Murrieta, a legendary bandito, roams California during the Gold Rush era. Murrieta earns a reputation and a livelihood rounding up cattle and horses that then ran wild in the California open range, driving them down to Mexico to sell to the Mexican Army, a very lucrative business. Larger than life for these escapades and for taking revenge against American miners who assaulted his wife and killed his brother, Murrieta’s reputation spreads as far south as Chile. During his crusades he set up base camps up and down the coast range. Murrieta and his men often stopped to water their horses at an artesian well bubbling up from the floor of the Livermore Valley at the base of the Arroyo Mocho, today the site of Murrieta’s Well Winery. 1870s Louis Mel, pioneering businessman, emigrates from France to the United States, setting up insurance agencies all over the west from Canada to Mexico. During his travels, Mel falls in love with the Livermore Valley in California. There, Mel buys a charming property with a flowing stream and an artesian well the locals call “Murrieta’s Well.” Mel’s discovery of this natural source of water and the unusually gravelly soil capture his attention due to its likeness to some of greatest vineyard sites in France. Mel buys the surrounding land and builds a gravity-flow winery into the hillside adjacent to the well, where the century old walls of river rock and cement still stand. 1880s In 1884, Louis Mel’s wife writes a letter to her childhood friend, the wife of the Marquis de Lur-Saluces at the famous Chateau d’Yquem in Bordeaux, introducing fellow Livermore Valley pioneer Charles Wetmore.
