IMPORTANT NOTICES AND CLARIFICATION TO PROCEDURES

DEADLINE TO FILE 2017 POLICIES To guarantee policies are registered in 2017 please process on or before December 22, 2017.

CHANGES TO PAYMENT OF FILING FEES, TAXES AND PENALTIES We no longer will be accepting paper checks for payment of filing fees, taxes, or penalties. Payments received in the form of a check after April 1, 2018 will be returned. If you are unable to use the ACH payment method, please contact our office so we can assist in other alternatives for payment.

MONITORING OF FILINGS We make every effort to monitor your filings to assist in catching errors. Please note that it’s the responsibility of the broker to provide the correct information and documentation.

CONTACT INFORMATION Please make sure we have the correct contact information for administrators, brokers and firms. It’s important for our records to be accurate in order for the administrator to receive documents and payment notifications. Also note that former administrators and users may access records under SLIP if the proper steps are not taken to deny access.

COMMON FILING ERRORS

 When filing an audit, please check to make sure the effective date of the audit is within the effective date and expiration date of the new or renewal.

 In accordance with NAC 685A.240 an extension of coverage must be submitted as a separate report of coverage. SLIP does not recognize a change in the expiration date on other than new and renewal transactions. This often causes a problem when several endorsements are processed that keep extending the policy period. Documents are not required on endorsements so we are unable to monitor whether or not an endorsement extends the policy period.

 The Nevada Division of Insurance does not notify us when an individual or firm renews their surplus lines license. If we are not notified by the broker, SLIP makes that broker inactive upon the expiration date we have on file and you receive an error that the broker is inactive.
