Job Title: Constituency Affairs Worker
Responsible to: Constituency Manager
Hours: Full Time
Location: Offaly/North Tipperary
Key tasks of the Constituency Affairs Worker will include:
To manage and run the Constituency Office on a day to day basis, ensuring that the office is open and available to the constituents and membership Monday through Friday. Whilst the successful applicant will be primarily based in the Tullamore office there will be a requirement to go to clinics in other areas from time to time.
To manage the administration of the Constituency office thus ensuring all correspondence and constituency queries are promptly responded to and dealt with in the strictest confidence
To provide information, assistance and advice to individuals on a range of issues e.g. Housing, Welfare Rights, Taxation, Education and other issues as they may arise. This should be carried out in conjunction with our local representatives.
To advocate and make representations on behalf of constituents to the relevant statutory agencies, all the while representing the TD
To work with the local representatives in the Constituency to ensure good communication is developed and maintained between the membership, the Constituency Manager and the TD
To work with the Constituency Manager and the PA based in Leinster House ensuring issues of concern in the constituency are raised in the Dáil and responses monitored. To work with the TD and the Constituency Manager to ensure that the TD’s work in Leinster House is communicated to constituents, local news media outlets, social media/networks and assist in producing Constituency newsletters
To provide regular reports on progress on constituency cases and constituency matters
To have proficient Computer, IT and literacy skills
To develop and maintain an accurate updated Database and Filing system
To log information on all calls and queries received, maintaining detailed accurate records and referral to appropriate personnel
To have a working knowledge of Sinn Fein policies
To deliver party campaigns on behalf of the TD throughout the constituency
To attend party meetings as required
