1 Associated Student Government 2 University of Arkansas 3 4 ASG Senate Resolution No. 11 5 Author(s): Senator Moses Agare, Senator Abby Sikes, Senator Spencer Bone 6 Sponsor(s): 7 8 The Officer Recognition Act of 2017 9 10 Whereas, the University of Arkansas has had limited cases of criminal activity 11 and has provided a safe environment for all students, faculty, and 12 staff; and 13 14 Whereas, the University of Arkansas’ Police Department (UAPD) has 15 continued to implement and execute precautionary procedures to 16 allow those who encompass the University to fully embellish their 17 Razorback Experience; and 18 19 Whereas, UAPD allows this campus to remain the Flagship University in the 20 state of Arkansas by keeping all of its inhabitants safe and secure; 21 and 22 23 Whereas, Families and friends are comforted in knowing that the University 24 of Arkansas is protected by a group of highly-trained and effective 25 individuals that keep their loved ones safe; and 26 27 Whereas, There is currently no award of recognition to honor these noble 28 heroes, then 29 30 Be it therefore resolved: The Security Act of 2017 will help us, as 31 students, motivate and further appreciate our 32 security personnel on campus; and 33 34 Be it further resolved: That this act will enable UAPD to perform their 35 duties as a valued part of their community, and 36 in return will motivate their efforts; and 37 38 Be it further resolved: The Security Act of 2017 will enable us to 39 identify one UAPD officer on campus each 40 school year that has gone above and beyond 41 the call of duty; and 42

1 43 Be it further resolved: The officer shall be recognized by the ASG 44 President on behalf of the student body, and be 45 awarded a plaque of recognition deeming him 46 or her the “ASG Officer of the Year” to be 47 presented at the last senate meeting of the 48 school year. 49 50
