A lot of our effectiveness is based on qualitative intervention…and we have done this successfully in the past and are confident of doing the same going forward. While a few studies have been done to establish a benchmark performance quantitatively and qualitatively….we are open to the design of new models and experiments to further study the effectiveness of our activities.

**Please see attached brochure for a further description of our activities. 2.3 Long Term Goal: Please explain in detail what are your long term goals from this project? (Add additional sheets if necessary)

Brief: Mr. Devendra Desai maintains constant phone communications with the centers and Vans on a daily basis. A log is maintained which contains remarks of Students and teachers on a daily basis. Mr. Desai makes Physical visits to the centers twice a month. Intelligence on the use and deployment of toys is constantly fed to Mr. Desai. There is one project head in each center who looks after the affairs of that particular center and reporting the same to Mr. Desai. Board meeting of the trustees takes place once in three months at which time all aspects of the operations are reviewed and plans going forward are put in place. We are desirous of hiring more skilled people to enhance the effectiveness of our programmes and this is contingent on our funding. One key requirement for us currently is to hire a person for supervising, monitoring and following up on administrative work…at a cost of about Rs 20 – 25000/month. We believe this in itself will bring value to our operations and serve to eliminate some current bottlenecks. Please note we have sustained all our operations to date on a shoe string budget and with an economically viable model.

For the moment, it is difficult for us to plan programmes without a knowledge and commitment of our funding levels. We will be happy to provide you with a detailed plan of programs and project management details once we have an idea of funding levels available to us [i.e in other words its easier to plan our activities based on the budget available to us, rather than the other way around due to the wide scope of programs that can be undertaken in this field.].

2.5 Project Sustainability and Evaluation 2.5.1 How do you propose to measure the effectiveness of the project? Please specify and detail any clear or quantifiable yardsticks.

. Hire the Services of University professors in Human Development, Psychology, Home Science, management school students and other relevant fields etc. to design statistical [qualitative and quantitative] experiments that study the implementation and effectiveness of our programs . some same simple indicators: a. Improvement in various aspects of listening, math skills, science skills etc. scores b. attendance increase to determine retaining power of center c. qualitative assessments based in Questionnaires d. quantifying behavioral & social skills through the help of experts in sociology and other fields as relevant. . In General, we will strive to use all existing techniques in the field of child development measurement studies.

2 past sample studies undertaken on the Children Toy Foundation is available with us and we will be happy to share the hard copies of the same with you, upon your request. 2.5.2 How does this project affect the children involved, their families and the local community?

Toys and Games are widely recognized world over as an effective medium to supplement classroom education for children. To mention a few they help with the following:

a. Children: . Improvement of Mental Faculties . Development of The Three R’s [Reading, Righting, Arithmetic] . Social and Behavioral Development . Constructive channelisation of energies . Sustains interests in learning, education and the probability of remaining in schools . Compliments Formal Classroom training

b. Families: . Helps parent –child interactions and the subsequent harmony associated with the same. . Provides an underprivileged child with an opportunity for a better future, which in turn elevates the entire family. . Provides the family with an opportunity to provide their child with a reasonably healthy childhood.

c. Local Community: . Through the channelisation of energies in a constructive fashion, reduces the incentive of children to involve in mischief and get into trouble....in other words keeps them of the streets. . Social and Behavioral skills improvement gives rise to healthy citizenry.

2.5.3 What plans do you have in place to make the project self-sustainable or sustainable with minimum support?

. Appeal and close requests to major corporate sponsors under their corporate social responsibility schemes. We will periodically continue this drive to sustain the funding. . Proven Performance that makes our endeavor a model to emulate which in turn has the potential to attract donors and sponsors. . Perhaps at some point in the distant future to think in terms of providing fee based specially designed toy and game services to mainstream children [non-underprivileged children] as a tool for team building, develop strategy formulation skills etc. Whole or Part of the proceeds of the same could be used for driving the Children Toy Foundation.
