TO RESET YOUR PASSWORD FOR MYPURDUE

First of all, go to the Purdue Directory and look up your name.

Here’s what I see when I put in Carlos Iglesias name (figure 1)

Figure 1

To get your new temporary password, you will need to call the Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) customer service center.

Information for hours, phone number, etc. can be found here: http://www.itap.purdue.edu/help/

The ITaP customer service person will ask:  Your name  Address for you on file (whatever you used on the grad school application)  Your “career account login” (Push the little word “more” under the “i” and as you can see to the left, for Carlos, his career account login is “ciglesi”  Your Purdue I.D. number (PUID). It is a 10 digit number and is on your Purdue ID card.

I find it useful to tell the customer service technician that you are a DISTANCE EDUCATION STUDENT AND DO NOT LIVE ON CAMPUS. That way they don’t expect you to just stop into their office and set your career account up. After they confirm that you are who you say you are, they will give you a temporary password. It is usually along the lines of Boiler1, Purdue1, 1Purdue, or something similar.

You need to follow their instructions to immediately change that password. Write it down! It does not have to be a “passphrase”. You should probably change this password once every 30 days of you may not be able to access MyPurdue without calling ITaP again. When you change it, write it down!

Now you should be able to access MyPurdue.
