Sacred Heart Cemetery and St. Charles Cemetery were created as final resting places for the faithful departed of our parish. It is our sacred duty to preserve these resting places in perpetuity until that time when Jesus comes to bring all of us home to be with Him.

Sacred Heart Cemetery and St. Charles Cemetery are part and parcel of the corporate structure of St. Anne Parish, Coleman/Lena, WI, and the Diocese of Green Bay. The Parish Cemetery Committees, as sub-committees of the Finance Council, are immediately responsible for the operation and management of the cemeteries. Any questions regarding the operation of the cemeteries or for arranging burials or purchasing burial rights shall be directed to the Parish office at 920-829- 5222.

Burial rights (graves) are sold individually by representatives of the Parish. When burial rights are paid in full, a certificate of easement shall be issued.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

b. Cemeteries are open for visitation from dawn to dusk. No persons shall enter the cemetery after dark. (St. Charles Cemetery does not operate in winter between Dec. 1 and April 1. Sacred Heart does not operate in winter between Dec. 1 and May 1. Roads will not be plowed.) Gates will be opened April 1 through December 1 weather permitting and if condition of cemetery roads allow.

c. Decorations may be placed on grave sites between May 1 and Sept. 30. Decorations left beyond this point will be disposed of. All decorations shall be in good taste with respect to the reverence of the cemetery and are subject to removal for failure to follow the established guidelines.

d. All decorations must be in a movable urn or planter. A maximum of 2 urns or planters per lot is permitted. No planting of shrubs or trees are allowed. No wire tripods (these present a danger to mowing equipment and operators), and No bird feeders or bird houses are permitted. Only 2 shepherd hooks per grave are permitted.

e. Vigil lights (2 per grave) and veterans’ markers are permitted. Solar lights will also be allowed, but must be placed in an urn or planter, not pressed into the soil.

f. Concrete Burial Vaults are required for all burials including infants. Vaults for cremated remains are not required.

g. A maximum of 6 cremation burials will be allowed per grave site, space permitting and at the discretion of the sexton. If more than one headstone is required, it must be flush with the ground surface. Number of stones to be determined by space allowed and at the discretion of the sexton.

h. Notice of 72 hours is needed to open a grave.

i. Payment for the grave opening will be made to the parish office through the funeral director.

j. Fees for purchases and services are:

Single grave site - Parishioner: $ 175.00 Perpetual care - Parishioner: 175.00 Single grave site – Non Parishioner 200.00 Perpetual care – Non Parishioner 200.00 Burial: 575.00 Infant burial or cremation with vault 375.00 Cremation burial: 275.00 Above ground interment for cremains: 75.00 Deed transfer: 25.00 Evening burials and Sunday burials are disallowed. Monument repair will be referred to a monument company. Foundation repair will be on time and material basis. k. REGARDING WINTER BURIALS: Winter burials are allowed but NOT required. No storage fee for parishioners; but $1.00 per day for non-parishioners will be charged. No work is to begin in the cemetery including digging of a grave, snow removal, etc. until a “Hold Harmless Document” is in the possession of either the sexton or committee secretary of St. Charles Cemetery. l. CREMAINS:

a. Pre-burial arrangements of cremains are the responsibility of the funeral director. Cemetery will be responsible for interment site after burial.

b. No cremains will be accepted for storage unless in “rodent-free” containers. Containers must be marked with the name of the deceased. Burial expenses must be paid prior to storage.

c. Storage fees for cremains will be set at $10.00 per month. Any carry-over days will be considered a full month. Storage fees pertain only to non-parishioners.

d. Lots must be paid for before a stone can be installed.

These rules and regulations become effective upon recommendation of the parish cemetery committees and final approval by the pastor, and are subject to change at any time. Please consult the parish office for the latest version.
