Two projects near Eastwood Mall highlight construction season Friday, July 5, 2013 By Ed Runyan [email protected] WARREN Though Trumbull County building officials are not seeing a large amount of construction this year, projects are popping up throughout the county, including two in Howland near Eastwood Mall. The Cafaro-Ross Partnership of Florham Park, N.J., has submitted plans to the Trumbull County Building Inspection Department for a 7,163-square-foot building in front of the Kohl’s store in the Howland Commons Plaza to build a Texas Roadhouse restaurant. The building inspection department has completed plan approval for the $650,000 project at 2390 Niles-Cortland Road. Across state Route 46 and on the southeast corner of state Route 46 and Mines Road is the location for the upcoming Mines Retail Center. The center, at 6425 Mines Road, across from Aldi, will be 63,000 square feet and is being built by Pelican Park Plaza Inc. of Boardman. The building-inspection department has given plan approval to the 7,453-square foot project. Its cost is $700,000. O’Reilly Automotive Stores Inc., of Springfield, Mo., has received plan approval and begun construction on an O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store on Elm Road in Howland Township across the street from Echo Lanes bowling alley. The store is at one end of a large tract of vacant land that was cleared of trees several years ago between Overland Avenue and Wilson Avenue. The Andersons Inc., of Maumee, Ohio, has received plan approval for construction of a 1.5 million-gallon storage tank at its facility at 6161 Muth Road in Lordstown. The Andersons also are constructing a 3,500-square-foot building in connection with the $180,000 investment. Officials with the building inspection department say the storage tank will enable the company to sell liquid fertilizer for agricultural use. Mike Sliwinksi, chief building official, said this has been an average year for commercial construction. It also has been an average year for residential construction with a large number of “mother-in- law” additions over the past four to five years being one of the most popular growth areas.
