Miss and Teen Contestant Information Packet We accept applications on a fist come, first serve basis.

Final Application Deadline: January 25, 2017 Dear Interested Applicant: The York County Scholarship Organization, Inc. announces the search is on for their 2016 representatives! You are invited to participate in the Miss York County / Miss Susquehanna Valley / Miss White Rose City Scholarship Pageant (for contestants 17-24) & Outstanding Teens Pageant (ages 12-17). Criteria for participation includes: must be a resident, attend school, or work within Pennsylvania for at least (6) months, prior to our pageant event. Must be a legal U.S. Citizen, born a female, and must be single and never married. Ages listed above for eligibility. Criteria for Miss York County Pageant: must reside, attend school or work in either Adams, Lancaster, Cumberland, Dauphin or York counties. All other Miss contestants will be in the Open pageant. Our pageant will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017. Our Miss America preliminary pageant will be held at the York County School of Technology, 2179 South Queen Street, York, Pennsylvania 17402 at 7 p.m. The winners will represent York County at the Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Organization. Last year, scholarships and awards totaling over $10,000 were awarded to our representatives!

Note: entries submitted after the January 25th deadline will not be included in the program booklet, but the contestant WILL still be permitted to compete in the pageant program.

 January 28, 2017: Pageant event, (Teen/Miss) at the York County School of Technology Note: winners of the Miss and Teen pageants will be required to attend a mandatory meeting with the York Pageants Program staff, on January 29, 2017 (Sunday), 1:00 pm at the Greater York Dance Studio, 3524 East Market St., York, PA. A Note About Your Platform Statement On The Application

Please indicate the critical issue and platform statement you will speak about if you are our representative. This “Platform” is the “Cause” you will champion and advocate during your year of service to the Miss America Organization.

Here’s an example – If your critical issues is HIV, your platform statement might be: As Miss _____, I will advocate educating teenagers about the increase in HIV among a specified group.

Your essay should be typed (10-12 font) on a sheet of white paper as follows: Title of Platform Submitted by (Your Name) An Essay in block form
