RSYO’s Fall Concert features Jonathan Boen, horn

Rockford, IL – The Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra’s Fall Concert will be Sunday, December 8, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at the Hononegah High School Performing Arts Center, 307 Salem Street, Rockton. The RSYO is comprised of more than 60 young musicians representing communities throughout the Northern Illinois region including Rockford, Belvidere, Freeport, Rockton, Roscoe, Byron, Stillman Valley, Genoa, Davis, Pecatonica, Sycamore, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Sycamore, Mt. Morris, and Kingston.

The Fall Concert will feature Jonathan Boen, principle horn for the Chicago Lyric Opera and Grant Park Festival Orchestra performing the 2nd movement of the Strauss horn concerto. Mr. Boen is also an RSYO alumnus. The concert includes works by Dvořák, Humperdinck, Glinka, Strauss, and Stravinsky. The RSYO is conducted by Daniel Black.

General admission tickets to the concert are $10 for adults and $6 for students and may be purchased in advance at the RSO Box Office located at 711 N. The Rockford Symphony Orchestra is the parent organization of the Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra. The RSYO offers excellence in music education and performance to young musicians throughout Northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin through challenging orchestral literature. Participation in RSYO also builds additional life skills including leadership, self-discipline, self-motivation, time management, and teamwork.
