The 2013 Anticipated Itinerary of Colorado School of Mines

On campus classes will be held in anticipation of the trip on Saturday mornings in June. Mandatory participation. A full syllabus and assignments will be distributed at the first class.

All participants will be expected to keep a daily journal related to trip activities, learning outcomes, and daily objectives. These will be part of the final evaluation along with a project and final exam.

The Resorts that the students will stay at: 1. Cataract Pyramids Resort 2. Sofitel Karnak Luxor 3. Serenity Makadi Heights Hurghada

Day Program 06/27/2013 Leaving Denver International Airport at 4:30pm for Cairo International Airport Arrive at Cairo International Airport at 7:45pm. 06/28/2013 Transfer from the airport to Cataract Pyramids Resort. Dinner at the Resort Breakfast at the resort from 6:00 to 8:00 am. Meet in the lobby at 8:00am to visit: A- the Egyptian Museum from 9:00 to 11:30am B- the Church of St-Sergius from 12:00 to 1:30pm C- Mohamed Ali's Castle from 2:00 to 3:30pm. 06/29/2013 A- Nile Cruise from 4:00 to 5:30pm D- Shopping and back to the resort. E- Dinner at the resort. Sandwiches in the bus for lunch Breakfast at the resort and departure to Suez city at 6:30am to visit: A- Suez University from 9:00am to 1: 00pm B- SUMED pipeline at Suez from 1:30 to 3:00 pm 06/30/2013 C- Wind Facility at Suez from 3:30 to 5:30 pm D- Suez Canal from 6:00 to 8:00 pm E- Back to the resort. Dinner at the resort. Sandwiches in the bus for lunch. Breakfast at the resort from 6:00 to 8:00 am. Meet in the lobby at 9:00am and go to visit: A- The American University from 8:30 to 1:30pm 07/01/2013 B- The Solar-thermal facility at Kuraymet from 2:00 to 4:00pm C- Shopping at Pyramids St from 4:30 to 6:00pm Back to the resort. Dinner at the resort. Sandwiches in the bus for lunch. 07/02/2013 Departure to Alexandria at 5:30am and visit: A- The Library of Alexandria from 9:00 to 10:00am B- The Arab Academy for Science and Technology Maritime Transport from 10:30 to 2:00pm C- Alexandria Petroleum Company from 2:30 to 5:00pm Back to Cairo. Dinner at the Resort. Sandwiches in the bus for lunch Breakfast at the resort from 6:00 to 8:00 am. Meet in the lobby at 8:00am to visit: B- Memphis, Sakkara from 8:30 to 9:30am C- the Pyramids and Sphinx from 10:to 12:00pm D- Amro Bin Al-Aas Mosque from 12:30 to 1:30pm E- Khan El-Khaleley Market. From 2:00 to 4:00pm 07/03/2013 F- Back to the resort. Sandwiches in the bus for lunch. Dinner at the resort from 7:00pm to 10:00pm with the American Cultural Affairs Officer in the American embassy in Cairo and the Minister of Higher Education in Egypt Departure to Luxor at 8:40pm using Watania Sleeping Train. Arriving Luxor at 6:30 am. Start your tour with a visit to: A- the magnificent Temple of Amon at Karnak from 8:30 to 10:30 07/04 /2013 B- Luxor Temple from 11:00 to 1:00pm C- Back to the resort. Dinner at the resort. Sandwiches in the bus for lunch. Meet in the lobby at 9:00pm and go for a tour of the city. Departure to Aswan at 5:30am to visit A- Temple of Philae from 8:30 to 10:00am 07/05/2013 B- Philae Island and the Nubian Villages from 10:30 to 12:00pm C- Unfinished Obelisk from 12:30 to 1:30pm D- Aswan Dam Hydroelectic Facility from 2:00 to 4:00pm Breakfast at the resort from 6:00 to 8:00 am. Meet in the lobby at 8:00am to visit: A- Luxor West Bank to see the Valley of the Kings from 9:00 to 12:00pm B- Hatshepsut's Temple and the ruined Colossi of Memnon from 12:30 to 07/06/2012 3:30pm Back to the resort. Dinner at the resort Sandwiches in the bus for lunch. Leaving Luxor at 7:30am toward Hurghada and stay 3 days tour in Hurghada where you will stay in the amazing Serenity Makadi Heights Resort in Hurghada (All inclusive Resort) and will be able to see the Red Sea and Safaga Port. 07/07 to July Meet in the lobby on July 7th at 9:00pm and move in a tour of the city. 9/2012 Meet in the lobby on July 8th at 8:00am for Scuba Diving and Snorkeling with Mr. Dabbour. Meet in the lobby on July 8th at 2:30pm for Safari with Mr. Dabbour. Meet in the lobby on July 9th at 8:00am and go to visit Safaga Port. 07/9 and July 10/ Leaving Hurghada at 6:00 pm and transfer to Cairo International Airport for the 2012 final departure on July 10th at 4:00am

Costs: Tuition for ENGY 200 (summer session) paid at CSM

Commitment Dates:

Initial Deposit November 15: $1000 Second Payment: December 3: $1000 3rd Payment: January 30: $1500 Total: CSM Tuition Plus $3500

Last day to withdraw and receive all money back: March 15. 50% refund for cancellations between March 16 – April 15, 2013

Additional Requirements: Due before end of Fall semester!

Copies of health insurance and Passport Office of International Programs paperwork ISIC card must be purchased by Spring Break, 2013 ($25.00) Students must register for ENGY200 for summer session.
