Timely Notification Bulletin for Cheyney University Campus

RAPE

FEBRUARY 21, 2015 In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, Cheyney, PA, is issuing a notice of a possible rape in a dormitory on the Cheyney Campus.

Cheyney Police received a report that a male Cheyney student was raped in a dormitory on campus on 02/21/15. The assailant is a non-student. The assailant and the victim are known to each other. Anyone having information regarding this crime is encouraged to contact the Cheyney Police Department at 610-399-2405.

GENERAL SAFETY TIPS:

 Report all crime or suspicious incidents.  Be aware of your surroundings.  Avoid walking alone.  If your partner says no or does not give clear verbal consent, sexual activity must stop.  Your partner cannot give consent if incapacitated with alcohol or drugs, coerced, threatened, or frightened.  The person(s) who initiate(s) a new level of sexual activity is responsible for getting consent for each level of intimacy.  Step in if you see a friend or acquaintance being taken advantage of or trying to take advantage of another person. Separate the individuals and make sure they get home safe.
