Currently our Membership stands at 98.
At our 2015 AGM, we said thank you and farewell to Donna Falconer who stood down as Chair after 2 years in the post. Ally Summers was duly elected as Chair. Gordon Edward was re-elected as Treasurer and stood down as Membership Secretary. Sheena Allan was re-elected as Secretary and was elected as Membership Secretary. Moira Donald and Tara Geddes were re-elected as Committee Members. Donna Falconer was elected as a co- opted member of GYA as the co-ordinator for Fraserburgh seminars.
Past Events in 2014/15 In October 2014, GYA jointly hosted with KJYT a weekend of yoga with Swami Krishnapremananda, and on 15th February 2015, Yvonne Austen presented a day of yoga. Both events were well attended with positive feedback. Many thanks to those who attended.
Forthcoming Events 2015/2016 Sue McLennan will present a weekend of yoga on Saturday 16th May at Chapel of Garioch, Inverurie and on Sunday 17th May at Fraserburgh Community and Sports Centre. Later in the year John Stirk will present a weekend of yoga on Saturday 3rd October at Cults Kirk Centre, Aberdeen and on Sunday 4th October at the Fraserburgh Community and Sports Centre. In 2016, we are offering a weekend of yoga with Dave Charlton, Sadhanamala who produce the Funky Guru booklets on Saturday, 16th April 2016 at Cults Kirk Centre, Aberdeen and on Sunday, 17th April 2016 at Fraserburgh Community and Sports Centre. The Committee is keen to have input from members about which Yoga Teachers or Yoga Styles they would like to have presented in seminars over the next few years. Please contact any Committee member with suggestions.
6 1 Summer Classes 2014 – Once again our evening summer classes were well attended and we are grateful to the organisers, and the tutors who gave us an interesting and varied A WEEKEND OF YOGA WITH programme. DAVE CHARLTON OF SADHANA MALA Summer Classes 2015 - We will be holding regular classes at Craigiebuckler Church Hall, (publishers of the Funky Guru books) Aberdeen from Tuesday 7th July to Tuesday, 25th August (inclusive) between 7.30pm and 9pm. This year, as a trial, GYA are offering a 4 class voucher system (4 classes for the price of 3). The vouchers can be used at any of the summer classes and are transferrable. The ‘The 3 Gunas in Our Practice – equilibrium (sattva), activity cost will be £15 for GYA members and £20 for non-members. (rajas) and inertia (tamas)'

This description of the three gunas comes from Bernard Bouanchaud's book Sponsorship is available for individuals with 2 years or more GYA membership who are "Yoga" on his discussion on yoga sutra 11.15. undertaking the Yoga Scotland Foundation Course, Teacher Training or Living Yoga Saturday, 16th April 2016 10.00am to 4.00pm courses. Costs: £50 (£60 non GYA members) for both days, or £25 (£30 non GYA members) per day This year we are happy to announce again no change to the membership fee of £5 per annum. 7 2 A WEEKEND OF YOGA WITH JOHN STIRK (Author of a new book ‘The Original Body: Deepening Practice for the Teaching of Yoga’ - available August 2015) Summer Classes 2015 ‘Primal Movement – the Physiological Experience of Yoga’ Craigiebuckler Church Hall, Aberdeen John Stirk has been teaching Yoga for 40 years. He graduated as an osteopath in Tuesdays 7.30pm – 9.00 pm 1983 at the College of Osteopaths in London, subsequently lectured in Bio- Mechanics and Practical Osteopathy and was made a fellow of the college in 1995. Class Fees: GYA Members £5 The influence of R.D.Laing, with whom he ran body/mind workshops, B.K.S. Iyengar, Non GYA Members £7 Vanda Scaravelli with whom he had personal tuition for several years and J. Krisnamurti has confirmed his belief in finding it in and for oneself. Consequently Vouchers Scheme GYA members £15 his style of teaching Yoga emphasises an enquiry into how one is during and after (4 classes for the price of 3): Non GYA members £20 physical practice.
