Wheel of Functions Project
Objective:
Name the seven functions of marketing and give an explanation and description of each.
Instructions:
Knowing and understanding the seven functions are essential to your study of marketing. In this activity, you are going to complete the following:
1. On a piece of card stock, make a pie chart with seven equal parts. Each part of the chart will represent a different function. The larger you make your wheel, the easier your activity will be.
2. List a function on each part of the chart, give a short explanation of the function, and include at least 5 pictures that are either drawn or cut from magazines that illustrate the function. For example, the first part of the chart will represent distribution. Distribution will be listed on that part of the chart along with a short definition of distribution. There will be a picture of a ship, train, warehouse, airplane, and truck. These pictures represent the different means of transportation of products as well as how and where you choose to store the products.
3. After you have completed the wheel, cut out the wheel and make a duplicate copy that does not include the functions and other information. You will have a blank circle.
4. From the blank circle, cut out a slice of the circle that corresponds with one of the functions on the first wheel. Only put the name of the function on this slice 5. Glue/Staple only the center portion of the slice on top of the piece of the chart that the slice corresponds to.
