Apollo Announcements Monday, January 28th

*THINGS TO KNOW and DO* **ACTIVITIES/EVENTS and THINGS TO KNOW** **Apollo’s Unplugged, the “Love Edition”, is scheduled for February 15th,beginning at 7:00 pm in the Commons. Admission to an evening of love songs is $4.00. Auditions will be February 5th and 6th in the Choir Room either after school or during AT. **If you love math and have a competitive nature, sign up for the American Mathematics Competition that will be held on Tuesday, February 5th, in the Upper Commons. Space is limited for this test, so sign up early. The cost is $6.00 and registration forms are available in the Business Office. The AMC10A and AMC12A allot 75 minutes to finish and include 25 multiple-choice questions. Testing time will be from 7:50 – 9:20, and you will need to bring #2 pencils, graph paper, protractor, ruler and compass. NO CALCULATORS are allowed. **Sunset merchandise will be available for purchase on Thursday, February 7th in the upper commons during both lunches. Stop by and pick up your spring Apollo gear. **Sunset’s Japanese sister school, Toyama Daiichi High School, will be visiting Sunset in March for one week – March 9 thru March 17th. The Japanese program is looking for host families who are willing to host a visiting student or two. This is an excellent opportunity to make new friends and learn more about other cultures. For more information, please contact Mrs. Sundahl the Japanese teacher in room H-11. **ATHLETICS** **Calling all track enthusiasts - come to the Track Sign-Up meeting today, January 28th at 2:40 in the Upper Commons. If you cannot attend, please see Coach Landon in room 3-12. Remember pre-season workouts are happening on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4:00 pm. Meet outside of room 3-16. **ACADEMICS** **There is no denying that next week is Final’s Weeks, and here is the schedule to prove it: Monday, January 28th is a normal day until 1:01 pm when the 2nd period final will be held. The following days have 2 scheduled finals, beginning at 8:00 am and 10:00 am, with an 11:30 dismissal. Tuesday, January 29th finals in periods 1st and 3rd periods; Wednesday, January 30th, 4th and 6th period finals, and Thursday, January 31st, 5th and 7th period finals. Friday is a teacher workday with NO STUDENTS. **That extra help with homework is finally here. A.T. Tutoring, sponsored by NHS occurs during 8th periods. The location of your tutoring will depend on your area of concentration: Math help will be located in F-5, Science help is in D-6, and Humanities (history, literature) will be in the Library. No more excuses about not getting your homework done! **SENIORS** **Hey Senior Parents – on the Grad Party Facebook page, please “like” us so you can receive updates and/or sign up to help out with the Grad Party. It’s a great way to stay connect to everything that’s happening. **Help us help the Grad Party by buying Kaady Car Wash Cards. This fundraiser gives back $10.00 for every $30.00 spent. A book of 5 car wash cards is $30.00. Contact Gwyn Booth at [email protected] to order and pick up your cards.
