Award Categories & Criteria Award Category Entry Criteria Best Start-up Biotech Company Recognises the best start-up biotech company, who have been formed for less than two-years and have raised substantial financial support of between £1m- £20m. The winner will be developing innovative products that are both novel and disruptive, and will have established early-stage news flow. There must be evidence of financing raised, on-going deals in the pipeline, and of a commercialisation strategy. Best Emerging Biotech Company Recognises the best emerging biotech company, who are between two and five years old, and have raised more than £10million in the 18 months prior to the event. The winner will be developing innovative, disruptive and novel products have evidence of a well-developed R&D strategy and commercial planning and progress. Best Established Biotech Company Recognises the best established biotech company that has a valuation of more than £50 million. The winner will have achieved large-scale success with innovative, disruptive and novel products, consistent and prominent news flow and evidence of substantial commercial progress. Best Start-up Medtech Company Recognises the best start-up medtech company, who have been formed for less than two-years and raised seed or grant funding for product development. The winner will be developing innovative products that are both novel and disruptive, and will have established early-stage news flow. There must be proof of financing raised and on-going deals in the pipeline, and evidence of a commercialisation strategy. Best Emerging Medtech Company Recognises the best emerging medtech company who are between two and five years old, and have raised significant growth capital of c. £500k. The winner will be developing innovative, disruptive and novel products, and have evidence of a well-developed R&D strategy, with evidence of commercial planning and progress. Best Established Medtech Company Recognises the best established medtech company who have successfully raised funds of c. £50million. The winner will have achieved large-scale success with innovative, disruptive and novel products, consistent and prominent news flow and evidence of substantial commercial progress. Best Emerging UK Synthetic Biotech Company This award recognises the emerging industrial or synthetic biotech company that has the most promise. Entrants will be assessed on capital raised, level of innovation and their likely disruptive impact Best Implementation of Digital Healthcare Recognises the company that best used information and communication technologies to address a specific health problem or challenge. The areas of activity can include both hardware and software solutions and services. Best UK Life Sciences Incubator Recognises the incubator that provides the best service to start up and emerging companies. Areas of assessment include location, facilities, resources, business support, exposure to investors and networking opportunities Highest Impact Investor This award recognises the highest impact investor in unquoted or private companies in early stage development.
