Jump Rope for Heart
Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraising event sponsored by the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance to benefit the American Heart Association. All elementary schools in Humble I.S.D. will be participating in this event. It will be the culminating activity to our jump rope unit in our Physical Education class. This event benefits the American Heart Association and your child in many ways.
This year the jumping event is February 3rd during your child’s P.E. class. This is also our Wear Red Day in support of a cure for heart disease and stroke. Every student will participate in this event by jumping whether they choose to collect donations or not. (Pre K and Kindergarten classes will not be jumping with us in this event.) If a student decides that they want to collect donations, they will need to have their information filled out on the collection envelope before they begin collecting. The permission slip attached to the envelope is not required due to our event being held during our regular class time and not off campus. We do ask that you help your child in the fundraising part of the program by helping them with the collection envelope and collecting donations. You are also invited to help them jump during their Physical Education class ( 1 st – 5 th grades only) on February 3rd. Please see the schedule on back for your child’s PE time. This will be a 25 minute class, so please be sure of their time.
The collection envelope is to be read by both parent and student and then used to help in collecting donations from sponsors. All envelopes should be returned with the money collected to Mrs. Tyler by February 10th. If anyone finds they need more time to collect, please contact Mrs. Tyler. The Heart Association requests that for the safety of our children ALL MONEY SHOULD BE COLLECTED IN THE FORM OF A CHECK OR MONEY ORDER AND MADE OUT TO THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION . We do not want to discourage donations of dollars and cents, but we ask that the parents help out by changing the final amount of coins and paper dollars into a lump sum check or money order. For convenience and safety donations can also be made on-line by following the directions attached to the collection envelope.
As a result of their help and hard work in collecting donations, your child will be eligible for thank you gifts based on the total amount of donations collected and turned in from family, friends, co-workers or company sponsors. WE ASK THAT YOUR CHILD NOT GO DOOR-TO-DOOR, AS THIS VIOLATES HUMBLE I.S.D. POLICY AND MAY PUT YOUR CHILD IN HARMS WAY. Thank you gifts will be given out 6-8 weeks after February 10th. Students should understand that the number one reason to participate in collecting donations is to help raise money for the Heart Association to continue their efforts in battling heart disease. As a result of their efforts, we are helping many people we may know who are stricken with heart problems. Students are making a promise to their sponsors and to the American Heart Association that they will “Jump Rope for their Heart” and learn the importance of exercise and nutrition.
The students are asked to decorate and place the name(s) of those they are Jumping In Honor Of on the paper heart they are bringing home today. They should write their own name and teacher on the back. This will hang in the cafeteria through Open House. This event educates children about heart disease and the importance of aerobic exercise and nutrition to the body. If you have any questions, please call (281-641-2409). Thank you for your support of our program and your help of the AHA. We look forward to a successful jump rope unit! Thanks again and always know you’re never too old to jump rope !
