This is a list of community resources to assist you in planning for your child's needs. The agencies and organizations are listed alphabetically and cover a broad range of services for students with moderate to severe disabilities. Please keep this guide for your files and refer to it as you provide for your child's needs, now and in the future.

Initially presumed to be rare, it’s now believed thousands of Angelman Syndrome cases have gone undiagnosed or misdiagnosed as cerebral palsy, autism or other childhood disorders.

They place individuals into jobs who have successfully completed work adjustment and personal/social adjustment training. 5 DARS-Blind Division provides services for people of all ages, with visual impairments. School programs begin at birth and continue to age 22. Persons with visual impairments having vocational potential, can receive transition services beginning at age 10. These services assist students as they move from high school into the world of work. DARS provides workshops, summer employment, summer camps, evaluations and vocational assessments. Students interested in attending college can receive a technology evaluation in their senior year of high school, to determine their technology needs in college.

They include service eligibility determination, service coordination, community support, respite, employment assistance, nursing, behavioral support, specialized therapy, vocational training, day habilitation, and In Home and Family Support. Waiver services for individuals either in their own or family's home or other home-like settings include community-based services and supports. Individuals must be Medicaid eligible in order to receive this service.

Provide special housing for special needs transitional people who graduated high school. They provide residential and nonresidential services including continuing education. They work with Worksource and other agencies to provide vocational training. They are funded through grants and medicaid/medicare, but they are working towards providing special funds for those who do not qualify.

MDA also has a one-week camp for children between the ages of six and 21 living with a neuromuscular disease.

They concentrate on behavior, pre-vocational and functional skills. Respite services during school holidays are also provided as well as full summer program. An adult program 10 designed for consumers not yet ready for sheltered workshop is also available. Clients must have some type of disability.

We specialize in using teaching strategies and skill building techniques designed to help those with problems related to attention, distractibility, impulse control, emotional control, noncompliance, learning differences and developmental delays. Our small student teacher ratios increase academic success and allow a high level of participation in school life.

The staff of TEAM Project helps parents and professionals to work together so children with disabilities can learn to be responsible, independent adults. There is no cost for these services. Services are available in English and Spanish.

Clients can be serviced in their own homes or in Trend Health Care Services residential facilities.

(Relatives As Parents Program) which provides Information, Referral & Support Groups for grandparents and other relatives raising grandchildren.
