Spring 2009 Survey of WCC Course Emphases on Computer and Information Literacy (CIL) Skills Below are listed various computer and information literacy skills. Please indicate the degree of emphasis placed on each in your course:
0 = No Emphasis Students do not learn, use, practice, and/or apply this skill for this class.
1 = Minor Emphasis Students have an opportunity to learn, use, practice, and/or apply this skill, but it is not a focus of the class and students are not evaluated on it.
2 = Moderate Emphasis Students learn, use, practice, and/or apply this skill, and they are evaluated on it. However, this skill is NOT a focus of the class.
3 = Significant Emphasis Students learn, use, practice, and/or apply this skill and are evaluated on it. It IS a focus of the class.
Example:
Students compose, send and receive email with attachments. 0 = No Emphasis Students do not use email for this class 1 = Minor Emphasis Students are encouraged to use email with attachments, but they don’t get credit for doing so. 2 = Moderate Emphasis Students are expected to use email with attachments, and are given credit for doing so. 3 = Significant Emphasis One of the objectives of this class is for students to learn how to use email with attachments, and they are evaluated on how well they do.
