Star Elementary - SIT Agenda

Group : SIT TEAM – STAR ELEMENTARY Date/Time : Sept. 2, 2014 Place: Conference Room Time: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Attended: Amanda Thompson, Danielle Hurley, Jeannette Dawkins, Linda Thompson, Beverly Hogan, Emily Tew, Teresa Dunn, and Shirley Collins

Agenda Item Action(s) Taken 1. Celebrations Shirley Collins made a motion to open the meeting and Emily Tew second. It was a good first week of school! SRI is complete in Mrs. Thompson’s fifth grade classroom. Kindergarten is settling in to their new environment and are quiet in the hallways.

2. SIT Chairperson and Secretary The Chairperson for our SIT Team is Amanda Thompson. There was a tie for secretary. Linda based on ballots Thompson made a motion for Jeannette Dawkins to be the secretary. Shirley Collins seconded the motion. All members voted yes. Jeannette Dawkins is secretary for the SIT team.

3. SIP – update goals and strategies The SIP plan has been changed to be more user friendly. Our SIP plan includes reading, math, and science. This will be a two year plan and will be reviewed 2 times a year. Mrs. Dunn will send a copy of the revised plan when it is completed. The team discussed root causes, areas of specific need, opportunities for improvement, and the deployment plan. Our SIP plan is due to the county office by September 19th. 4. NCASCD Math Workshop: Shirley Collins made a motion to send two teachers and Jeannette Dawkins to this math Math Spectacular – Interactive conference. Danielle Hurley seconded. All members voted yes. Shirley Collins will be the K-2 Strategies that Connect Students to representative and Amanda Thompson will be the 3-5 representative. The three participants State Math Standards - Sept. 23 in will be presenting what they learn to the faculty at the Sept. 15th faculty meeting after the Greensboro – Send Jeannette, one K- conference date. 2 teacher, one 3-5 teacher $150 per teacher plus sub cost 5. Please see Mrs. Dunn if you have any donations for the auction or are getting donations for the auction so that duplication will be avoided.

The Fall Carnival money will be used to purchase classroom supplies.

Food will be BBQ sandwiches and Chicken Quesadillas. The same families are helping with food preparations this year. Many thanks for their time and effort! 6. Read-a-thon Fundraiser – Review The team reviewed the Read-A-Thon plan from last year and agreed to keep the same last year’s plan for rewards, etc… guidelines. The Read-A-Thon sponsor collection will be from Sept.15-26. The Read-A-Thon Money raised from read-a-thon to kickoff will be at 2 pm on Sept. 15. Mrs. Dunn will send out a guideline sheet and the list of purchase? special days for the first week of collecting sponsors.

7. Laptop checkouts – divide up into Shirley Collins made a motion for each classroom to keep 5 laptops in their class. Jeannette classrooms by numbers? (See third Dawkins seconded the motion. Hours – since No Days Our hours are still 7:30 to 3:30. Teachers still have No days and need to accumulate the 15 minutes each day to have these days. We no longer have Bonus Days.

If there is a NO day, the principal, IF, and classified staff (custodians, office staff, assistants,etc) have the option to take annual leave, work, or take a day with no pay. 9. Update on plans for Bernie’s Burger Shack has given 1- 9 piece of bucket of chicken for Bernie. Celebration Sept. 26th Invitations will be sent out this week -Burger Shack (for Bernie) No TV crews have responded as of yet. Mrs. Dunn is going to ask Katie Hursey to help with -Invitations this. -gift? Montgomery Herald is coming for the event. We will possibly put a bench with a plaque in Bernie’s honor out in front of the school and get a Chicken Man shirt. If you have any pictures of Bernie, please bring to share. Linda Thompson motioned to close the meeting. Emily Tew seconded the motion. The meeting ended at 5 pm.
