Job Purpose Provide a short statement indicating the overall objective & purpose of the job

PURPOSE

Meet the needs of our customers both internally and externally by providing safe, timely and efficient vehicle maintenance support to the bakery in line with current and future company policy and legislative requirements.

SCOPE

He/she will be responsible to the VMU Team Leader for the inspection, repair and servicing of the bakery vehicle fleet in a safe, timely and cost efficient manner indirectly meeting our KPI targets on fleet availability. They will report directly to the VMU foreman who will allocate and direct their workload and act as a focal point for all issues concerning their day to day work.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

HEALTH & SAFETY  No reportable accidents or near misses within VMU.

ENVIRONMENTAL  No reportable environmental incidents within VMU.

COST  VMU Budget kept within plan.

QUALITY  All work carried out correctly first time and to a high standard. (Service, MOT, LOLER).

SERVICE  Servicing target met without compromise on standards.

PEOPLE  Works well within the VMU environment both individually and as a team player.

Key Accountabilities Provide a list of the key elements of the job, that the job holder will be responsible for delivering (8-10 points) ALLIED MILLING & BAKING JOB DESCRIPTION

 Comply with all Health & Safety at Work Act (Section 7) regulations ensuring your own and others personal safety.

 Ensure that the site safety policy and all legal & statutory requirements (LOLER, PUWER etc) are strictly adhered to at all times.

 Ensure that all substances which may pose a threat to environmental safety are properly controlled and disposed off in line with company and legislative environmental policy.

 Utilising the resources available, ensure that all repair and maintenance tasks are carried out efficiently and cost effectively.

 Adhere to all company quality procedures ensuring that work is carried out correctly to the set standards.

 Meet the legal requirements laid down in the Department of Transport - Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness.

 Ensure all work is completed to the highest standard using manufacturers’ guidelines to inspect, repair and service all bakery vehicles in line with company policy and legislative requirements. This may include automotive, electrical and welding repairs as well as limited body repair work.

 Ensure that all paperwork relating to the inspection, repair and service of the vehicle fleet is correctly and accurately completed with all relevant detail pertaining to the vehicle being maintained.

 Must have a good ability to communicate both verbally and written.

 Must be able to work conscientiously alone and as part of a team.

 Must be able to work when required to meet the needs of the business.

 Must be able to adapt and show initiative in the resolution of work related problems whilst working alone or within a team.

 Adhere to the ‘Clean as you go’ policy within the VMU and ensure that your work area is kept in a clean and tidy condition at all times.

 Comply fully with company policy regarding driving related tasks and ensure that drivers’ hours and tachograph legislation is adhered to at all times.

 Complete any training deemed necessary by the company to improve job efficiency or meet legislative requirements.

Experience & Qualifications Specify academic requirements or equivalency, required years and type(s) of experience and necessary professional licences or certificates if relevant. Specify which are essential and which are desired. Include details of technical skills such as knowledge of a particular type of system

Essential

 City & Guilds Level 2 Advanced Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (Groups A2 & B2 preferable but not mandatory) or equivalent.  Current full driving licence, including category B.  Ability to work conscientiously whether alone or within a team.  Ability to show initiative in resolving problems encountered.  Good written and verbal communication skills.  The ability to work shifts including weekends.

Desirable

 2 years experience of working within a commercial vehicles maintenance environment.  City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (Groups A2 & B2 preferable but not mandatory).  C+E categories on driving licence.  Dealership trained.
