Musicianship: Pre-Kindergarten through Second Grade
Since 2011, OrchKids has provided in-school Musicianship, an in-school service providing about an hour of additional music instruction per week through a strong partnership with the HEMS Music department. As of fall 2014, Musicianship classes are offered to students from pre-kindergarten through grade 2.
After School Programs

Exploratory Classes – Provides an introduction to instruments by spending approximately 3 months each on the violin, trumpet, and recorder. “Beethoven” and “Tchaikovsky” Groups: Second Grade and up! *For students in grades 2 and up that have participated in OrchKids previously.
Beginning in the fall of 2014, OrchKids is excited to expand the after-school program to include the “Beethoven” and “Tchaikovsky” levels. Students in grades 2 and up that have participated in OrchKids in the past will now have the chance to choose their very own orchestral instrument. The students enrolled in this new level of OrchKids at HEMS will experience:

Bucket Band – A fun opportunity to hone students’ rhythm skills and develop their ability to play in an ensemble as they play away on Home Depot buckets.
