Team Summary

The Event Delivery Team is responsible for the safe management, planning and delivery of a series of events across the UK, including Walk Ten and Mountain Challenges, as well as delivering on the day support for Third Party Events e.g. London Marathon. The team is also an expert resource on event logistics and risk management and, when required, provide support and advice to Fundraising Managers and their Fundraising Groups on their event needs.

The team contributes to the development of new events and the consistent improvement of the event portfolio offering, ensuring that Marie Curie Cancer Care remains at the forefront of charity fundraising events.

The team ensures an exemplary on the day experience for all Marie Curie Cancer Care event participants and volunteers to ensure our supporters become vocal advocates for our work and future fundraising events.

Job Summary The Event Manager will work with the Senior Event Manager to implement the safe delivery of the events in the portfolio. This includes leading on specific events and taking full responsibility for the creation and set up, as well as full on-the-day responsibility for these; including logistics, health and safety, provider contracts and management, volunteers and risk assessments.

Duties and responsibilities

1. To organise and deliver an agreed number of events to the highest standard, undertaking all relevant logistical and operational planning. Project Management methodology to be used to help deliver this.

2. To take responsibility for the Health and Safety management of specific events including creating Risk Assessments for each event.

3. Contribute to, and follow, an expenditure budget for specific event production costs. Monitor expenditure including ongoing re-forecasting. Maintain accurate records on performance, expenditure, stock and distribution. Produce accurate statistics to monitor and analyse performance against set KPIs. 4. Deliver agreed Corporate Sponsorship opportunities and branding at events on the day. 5. To maximise the fundraising potential presented by the various event products by initiating, where appropriate, on the day activity that will increase income.

6. To establish and develop relationships with appropriate providers and partners (venues, councils, AV and production companies etc) and secure attractive contracts. Where appropriate negotiate services as support in kind, or as a sponsorship package.

7. Implement a volunteer strategy for each event. This includes working closely with the Fundraising Volunteering team and other regional colleagues to provide both on the day volunteering opportunities, as well as long term event management intern programmes.

8. Engage with the digital communications strategy, providing on the day opportunities and content for Twitter, Facebook, Flickr etc

9. Complete thorough post event analysis and reporting

10. To keep a watching brief on external charity fundraising events, looking for opportunities and potential for development

11. To ensure that all work matches our national strategies and is carried out in accordance with Marie Curie Cancer Care policy and procedure and UK law. Marie Curie Cancer Care Job description
