God’s Not Dead Book Gains Momentum as Movie Stays Strong at Box Office
(Nashville, Tenn.) – Since its release on March 21, Pure Flix film “God’s Not Dead” has made $57 million at the box office and remained one of America’s top ten movies for several weeks. In the wake of the movie’s success, awareness is heightening for the book behind the movie, God’s Not Dead: Evidence for God in an Age of Uncertainty (W Publishing, March 2013) by Rice Broocks.
Since the movie’s release, the God’s Not Dead book has ranked at the top of the Apologetics bestsellers list on Amazon and has more than doubled in sales. Major retail chains such as Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart are carrying the book and retail support is expected to continue. God’s Not Dead has also experienced great international popularity with multiple translations including Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Romanian, and Slovak.
Not a novelization of the movie, God’s Not Dead lays out nine basic proofs of God’s existence and gives a clear, understandable overview of the evidence while responding directly to many skeptical claims. It is the perfect follow up to the movie for anyone who is interested in digging deeper into the stories and issues the film discusses. “Young people aren’t being prepared with the answers they need to sustain their faith,” said Broocks. “Real faith isn’t blind, it’s evidence-based. And there’s an astounding amount of evidence that God’s not dead.”
Broocks was a part of the production and filmmaking of “God’s Not Dead,” which includes a star-studded cast (Kevin Sorbo and Shane Harper) and reality stars (Willie and Korie Robertson), and he is currently traveling internationally to help promote the movie as it opens in the United Kingdom and Australia. Due to the subject matter of the movie, Broocks has been asked to be appear on national TV and radio to speak about the arguments it raises for Christianity.
“This movie,” says Broocks, “has brought renewed energy to the great debate of our times: Does God exist? Believers and non-believers now have the opportunity to have a meaningful dialogue where both sides commit to follow the evidence wherever it leads.”
Rice Broocks is the cofounder of the Every Nation family of churches, with more than one thousand churches in more than sixty nations. The senior minister of Bethel World Outreach Church, Nashville, Tennessee, Rice is also the author of several books, including The Purple Book and Every Nation in Our Generation. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Rice has a master’s degree from Reformed Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary.
