What to do in Calderdale Calderdale is the southernmost of the Yorkshire Dales and covers part of the South Pennines area of beautiful river valleys, moorland and hill country. Calderdale is not as well known as its Northern neighbours as it does not fall within the boundaries of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Yet we have a tremendous amount to offer visitors.

Award winning attractions, including EUREKA! The National Children's Museum and Manor Heath Park & Jungle Experience offer a perfect opportunity for family fun and spending time together. From the arts and crafts of Dean Clough, the Smith Art Gallery and our multitude of talented local artists and craftspeople, to the Shibden Estate and Halifax Minster, Calderdale is renowned for its creativity, culture and heritage.

Stunning Scenery Enjoy the outdoors and our dramatic scenery, as shown in the recent TV series Last Tango in Halifax. Landmarks such as Stoodley Pike and the Cragg Vale Incline entice walkers and cyclists all year round. Go mountain boarding, canoeing, rock climbing, bouldering, waterskiing, skiing and skateboarding. Ride a horse or mountain bike through stunning countryside. Experience the wonders of the waterways, with the Rochdale Canal and Calder & Hebble Navigation. Calderdale boasts miles of towpaths and the deepest lock in the country! There's also a wealth of reservoirs and local nature reserves, perfect for 'getting away from it all'.
