ST. MARY PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION 5684 GROVEPORT ROAD GROVEPORT, OH 43125

August 25, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome back to St. Mary Parish School of Religion 2016-17. This year classes will begin Sunday, September 11th. Class time will be 9:30 – 10:50. Be advised that we encourage an open classroom environment. Any parent/guardian will be welcome into the classroom at all times.

Enclosed please find an enrollment form to be completed. If all students have the same last name, you may place additional family members on the back of this form. Any student with a different last name in the family must complete a separate form. There will be extra forms in the P.S.R. office in the back of church.

Also, note this year that we have a green Diocese of Columbus Policy on Harassment Form and a yellow Curriculum Support for “Protecting God’s Children” form. These forms are for your information and should be explained to your child. You must sign on the bottom of the Enrollment Form that you have received this information AND INFORMED YOUR CHILD.

Please note that the sacrament of Confirmation will NOT be celebrated this year. The students in the 8th grade this year will be confirmed NEXT YEAR as 9th graders.

GRADES 2ND THROUGH 4TH will be prepared for the sacrament of Reconciliation. THIS MEANS THAT ALL 2ND GRADERS WILL RECEIVE THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION. ALL 3RD AND 4TH GRADERS WILL ALSO RECEIVE THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION. We will celebrate this sacrament during the Lenten Season. This date will be announced at a later time.

The 2nd grade will receive the sacrament of First Eucharist as a CLASS. THE DATE FOR FIRST COMMUNION WILL BE ON A SUNDAY IN MAY AT THE 11:00 MASS. THE EXACT DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED. First Eucharist parent meetings will be announced. Please provide a baptismal certificate for your child if they were not baptized here at St. Mary.

Any student who has been baptized and has not yet received the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and/or Confirmation will be prepared and receive the sacraments at the appropriate times. I will need to know if your children require sacraments in order to make arrangements for their preparation.

Any child, who has not received the sacrament of Baptism by the age of 7, must attend the R.C.I.C. program, along with P.S.R. classes, in order to prepare for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation & First Eucharist. Please see me to make these arrangements.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the P.S.R. office at 614-497- 1437 or see me during P.S.R. class time.
