Students should be acting at an age appropriate level. 4 pts each Objectives for lesson are explained to students Clarity: instructions are understandable Accuracy of information Uses appropriate examples Questioning Skills Supplemental Materials Organization/Keeping students on task Time Volume, eye contact etc. Respect for self, students and classroom Evaluation(I): After your class presentation, write up a 1 page or longer document (3pts) describing what you think worked and why (3pts), what you think didn’t work and why (3pts), and how you would change that lesson in the future to make it more effective (3pts). Incorporate student feedback (3pts). Evaluation (II): For each student presentation (except your own!) use the form provided to write up some constructive criticism for that instructor. These will be anonymous (unless that student knows your handwriting for some reason) Points/Due Dates: -Lesson Plan (with assessment tool/strategy) 40 points -Teaching 40 points -Self Evaluation 15 points -Evaluating Teachers 15 points -Lesson Plan is due the day of your presentation. Evaluation (I) is due the next class day after your presentation. You must include the student feedback forms with your self-evaluation. Major Class Project Points= 110 11% of grade Additional Notes on Class Presentation Project:

Lesson If you are teaching at a grade level where a lesson plan would appropriately only be 20 or 30 minutes you must still include 50 minutes worth of planning, even if that means multiple lesson plans My main criteria for these plans, besides the inclusion of the elements (see rubric above) is as follows: Could I teach your class as a sub if all I have is your lesson plan?

DO NOT PLAGIARIZE YOUR LESSON PLANS! I understand that in the real world it is perfectly appropriate to use other teacher's lesson plans (that what subbing is all about, right?) and that many teachers share their lesson plans, post them on-line etc. For this assignment you CANNOT borrow a lesson plan, I want you to design your own presentation. Pretend no one has ever, in the history of the world, taught people about whatever it is you are teaching. Please come up with your own activities, discussion questions etc. Keep in mind that in the real world you will not always have resources to fall back on for a topic you must cover in class, that is the kind of situation this should help you practice for. I will allow you to use outside sources for handouts/quizzes/homeworks IF YOU CREDIT YOUR SOURCES APPROPRIATELY. If you use any handouts from an outside source without clearly crediting the source on the handout, that is plagiarism.

Teaching This will be evaluated on the basis of what the instructor (myself) rates your teaching as on the evaluation forms (see forms, see rubric at the website)

Self Evaluation: For full credit you must address the feedback from the students in the class when discussing what worked or didn't work and how you would change your presentation in the future. This grade is completely separate from the teaching grade (ie you could flunk your teaching and get an A in evaluation or vice versa). As to the length make sure to use normal fonts, page margins etc. I expect these to be one page in length or longer (doublespaced). This does not include your name, date etc. You must turn in the student evaluations from the class with your self-evalutation.

Evaluating Teachers: This part of your grade will be based on your attendance and completion of the evaluation forms. Please be honest and constructive. Keep in mind that by making comments both on what is working well and what isn't you are helping the student complete their self evaluation and improve themselves as a teacher
