General Summary of the Position .
St. Ann Catholic Church is looking for a communication expert as we seek to become one of the most dynamic, forward-thinking parishes in the country. This person should be creative, high-energy, and have a passion for storytelling. We are looking for a self- starter that enjoys working in a team environment, and is excited to join a growing Catholic community with an vibrant culture and great people.
Responsibilities include developing a holistic strategic communications plan and implementing sustainable processes for promoting parish life, building community, and evangelization. This person will be working with parish staff and volunteers to effectively communicate internally and externally. This person will develop social media, video, print and email content, and manage a full-time content coordinator. On occasion, the strategic communication director will work with outside contractors for web site and video development, etc. Since the position will be a liaison among ministry leaders, strong relationship skills are a requirement.
The individual will report directly to the Pastor and be a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This position is expected to last 6-12 months with possible extension. About St. Ann St. Ann Catholic Parish, located in Coppell, Texas, is a large and growing parish of almost 9,000 families. As a vibrant, multicultural community, ministering in English and Spanish. Responsibilities ● Assess current communication gaps and areas of improvement including conducting focus groups ● Based on findings, develop the parish strategic communication plan for all platforms including website, bulletin, social media, email, blogs, newsletters, signage, etc. ● Departmental budget planning and management ● Implement the strategic communication plan with sustainable processes, that includes: ● Developing and maintaining an ongoing content calendar ● Establishing branding guidelines ● Updating and restructuring website ● Creating guidelines for all communication channels ● Assessing content strategy effectiveness ● Scheduling, monitoring, and responding to social media interactions ● Spearheading traditional and non-traditional public relations efforts ● Engage and collaborate with department and ministry leaders to develop quality content ● Manage and work with content coordinator to develop ongoing content for all platforms ● Engage and manage external content contractors ● Assess emerging communication trends and platforms and propose new ideas to senior leadership ● Occasionally collaborate with clergy to develop strategic messaging for homilies, etc. ● Collaborate with the Development Director to ensure cohesive fundraising messaging
Qualifications ● Minimum 8 years experience in marketing, public relations, or related field ● Bachelors in Business, Marketing, Communication, or related field ● Outstanding oral and written communication skills ● Proficiency managing corporate social media accounts ● Experience developing and maintaining brand standards ● Strong attention to detail and design ● Strong team player with ability to work independently ● Creative thinker with entrepreneurial mindset ● Proficiency with Microsoft Office ● General graphic design skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign preferred ● Experience leading a team a plus ● Ability to work across different cultures, Spanish speaking is a plus Industry Marketing and Advertising, Public Relations and Communications, and Online Media
