The Chicago Chapter of APWA is organizing a full-day course focusing on GIS. Now is the time to add to your PDH requirements for this year by attending this session. A wide range of speakers will be providing information on the following topics:

Who should attend: Engineers, Department Heads, Managers and technicians who are involved with data gathering and utility maintenance and design. The seminar fee is $90 (for APWA members), which includes any presentation materials, continental breakfast and lunch. Space is limited so sign up early.

Tony Pellettiere, GIS Account Manager with The Sidwell Company: Tony has worked to further the growth of GIS in both the private and public sectors for over six years. He maintains an active membership in numerous state and national organizations to keep abreast of the evolving issues and how GIS technology plays a role in their decision making processes.
Patrick J. Glenn, P.E., CFM, senior engineer and GIS manager with Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc.: Patrick Glenn has over ten years of experience with the firm in municipal engineering, utility planning and construction, floodplain management, and Geographic Information Systems. Mr. Glenn is an Illinois licensed Professional Engineer as well as a Certified Floodplain Manager.
Mary Clement GIS Manager, Scott Schweda Supervisor of Water and Sewer, City of Lake Forest: Mary Clement - has been involved with GIS since its infancy (for about 20 years now), first as a Consultant/Project Manager for a GIS software company (ESRI), and currently for the City of Lake Forest, IL. Scott Schweda - has 12 years experience in the water and sewer industry. He has worked for 8 years as a water operator for The Village of Lake Zurich and the last 4 years for the city of Lake Forest. They have been developing the utility sewer and water layers of a Citywide GIS enterprise that has been in the works over the last 10 years.
Thomas A. Thomey, GIS Consortium: Tom is the president and founder of Municipal GIS Partners, Inc. Tom has been working in the Geographic Information Systems industry since 1986. Tom served as GIS Manager for the City of Highland Park from 1994 through 1997. In 1998 Tom formed Municipal GIS Partners to meet the needs of small- and medium size communities. Tom set out to develop a ‘new’ approach by which communities would work collectively to better manage cost and risk of GIS programs. His vision has been adopted and expanded by a group of communities that comprise GIS Consortium.
Bill Faedtke, Manager of Geographic Information Systems for DuPage County (since 1977): The County has begun the deployment of a second generation system that will make widespread use of GPS to improve the efficiency of surveying and engineering projects, and to improve the accuracy of GIS databases. The County is also working on a major initiative with its neighbors in the surrounding counties to develop a set of standards and procedures that will enhance the sharing of GIS data and support resources. He was appointed as a member of the Illinois Geographic Information Council by Governor Edgar in 1997.
Jeff Frauenfelder, RJN Group, Inc.: Jeff has been using GIS technology for 15 years as an integral tool for conducting engineering analyses and mapping for wastewater, storm, water and electrical distribution systems.
