What Happens Next? Once your completed application form has been received, this will be circulated to the Education Fund Committee. The Education Fund Committee will consider each application individually and come to a conclusion based on the applications merits. The Education Fund Committee reserves the right to set and notify the dates of meetings at which it will consider applications.

Successful Application If your application is successful, then you will receive notification from the Education Fund Committee. Please note - The Education Fund Committee reserves the right to offer a grant, in a lower amount than has been requested if they consider that this is appropriate in the circumstances. If you receive funding from other sources please notify the committee.  A brief report on the course/activity, and how the money was used, must be submitted to the Education Fund Committee within one month of completion of the course/activity.  Successful applicants will be encouraged to share their experiences with the community on their return.  Copies of receipts must be provided. More Information Required The Education Fund Committee may request more information from an applicant before making a final decision on awarding the grant. A member of the Education Fund Committee will contact you if this is the case.

BRISTOL & WEST PROGRESSIVE JEWISH CONGREGATION EDUCATIONAL FUND TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. A capital fund to provide financial assistance to children, young persons and adult members of Bristol & West Progressive Jewish Congregation (BWPJC) to enable them to attend Jewish educational activities in Britain, Israel and other countries.

2. The fund may also be used to finance relevant congregational activities as agreed by the BWPJC Council.

3. The fund opens at £28,000.

4. The Fund to be a restricted fund for the purposes set out in paragraphs 1 and 2. 2 CONFIDENTIAL

5. The Congregation should seek to “top up” the capital by further donations.

6. The Fund shall be invested and until further notice a maximum of £3000 shall be available for use in any one year.

7. Grants shall be disbursed at the discretion of an Education Fund Committee, appointed by Council. The Committee shall consist of the chair (or the vice-chair when requested by the chair to take his place), the Rabbi of the community (if there is one) and one other member of council.

8. All applications will be confidential and seen only by the Education Fund Committee and Treasurer.

9. For the purposes of paragraph 6 each year shall end on 31 October.

10. Any full member may apply. The Education Fund Committee may take into consideration the length of membership and/or additional commitment to the community.

11. Preference will be given to applicants who can show that they have sought or are seeking matched funding towards their proposal from other appropriate sources.

12. As a guideline grants will not normally exceed £250.00.

13. The aim of the Education Fund Committee will be to spread the benefit of the funds as widely as possible within the community which is likely to result in it being unlikely that more than one grant will be made to the same individual in a close period of time.

14. Requests for interest free loans from the fund repayable within defined periods of time (usually 12 months) on a regular basis will also be considered. The maximum of £250 will not normally be exceeded.

15. The investment of the fund shall be managed by the Treasurer of BWPJC and one other member of the congregation to be appointed by Synagogue Council.

16. If the annual allocation is not spent in any year, it may be carried forward and allocated in a subsequent year or years.

17. Further capital may only be spent with the agreement of Synagogue Council.

18. Cheques from this account to be signed by both the Treasurer and one of either the Chair or Vice-Chair of Synagogue Council for amounts over £200, and any one of these individuals for lesser amounts.

19. The Education Fund Committee will report on the fund in Alonim at least annually, while always being careful to ensure anonymity of applicants.

20. The decision of the Education Fund Committee is final.
