Intro to Psychology- Book Project Select a book that has a strong theme of Psychology and that interests you. Read it, looking for issue in Psychology. Some suggestions include:

WHAT TO DO: 1. Read the book. 2. Write a detailed summary of the book or take notes about what is happening while reading. 3. Identify and explain 5 psychological concepts that are evident in the book. Provide as much analysis as you can as a psychology student, to explain what you understand or why it is happening. 4. Select a project and complete it according to the criteria described. All projects must reflect quality and effort. 5. Due Date: May be turned in any time between now and .

A. Book Sandwich – Use colored paper to make slices of things in a sandwich. Use each slice to show various aspects of your learning. . Bread – Title, Author, picture or graphic (5 pts) . Lettuce – Summary (much shorter than the written summary provided). (5 pts) . Tomato – Conflict, obstacles, or problem (5 pts) . Mayo – Main character’s issues or situation (5 pts) . Ham/Turkey – “Meat” of the story – 5 psychological concepts in book (15 pts) . Onion – What leaves a bad taste in your mouth? How do you disagree? Questions unanswered? Doubts? (5 pts) . Cheese – Favorite part of book (5 pts) . Mustard – Moral of the story, or the resolution (5 pts) . Pickles – new vocabulary words or psych vocabulary (5 pts) . Bread – Draw a scene from the book (5 pts) . Formal Summary of entire book (10 pts) . Quality & Effort (10 pts)

B. Book In a Container . Pick a container,… shopping bag, cereal box, manila envelope, or another idea (4 pts) . Decorate the outside to reflect the story or book content (5 pts) . Inside, include: o 10 vocabulary note cards from unfamiliar words from the book or psych vocabulary that can be applied – explain each and how they pertain to the book (2 pts each) o 5 psychological concepts from the book – explained by you (2 pts each) o 5 items that relate to the story’s conflicts or obstacles, resolutions, doubts, lessons, and your favorite part – explain each item (2 pts each) o What you liked and didn’t like about the book (3 pts for each) o Formal Summary of entire book (10 pts) o Quality & Effort (10 pts)

TOTAL POINTS: OUT OF 75 C. Character Comes To Life – Make a life size character from the book. Relate parts of the book to the anatomy of the person. .
