St. Simon Athletic Board Meeting Minutes 31 March 2015, 730pm, St. Simon Cafeteria Prayer Athletic TeamWear Fundraising Guest, Tony Patrico - Tony briefed the Board on a possible Athletic TeamWear Fundraising opportunity. Bill, one of our suppliers of jerseys and equipment, has agreed to supply inventory of various items which we can market. Simon's Athletic Board would receive 10% of the profits. The Board agreed to learn more about it before presenting to the Holy Name Board. Bob Spencer to have a courtesy discussion with the Home and School Committee and the Marketing Committee. Evaluation of CYC Constitution Changes Main CYC is pondering multiple changes in their policies/constitution. The Board pondered a few of the noteworthy items, and voted as follows: - Keep Open/Close Divisions - Eliminate the names of the Divisions (e.g. Midget, Crusader) in favor of 5th and 7th, etc Annick Josse will take our votes to South County CYC who will accept the votes from all parishes to come up with 1 South County vote for each proposal. This 1 vote will then be sent to main CYC to be paired with the other 5 district's votes. We will learn of the decision at the May 2015 South County CYC meeting. Individual Reports Athletic Director, Jim Reznicek - Told the Board thank you for their support during a disciplinary case that was going to provide a harsher penalty on a parent who got ejected at a SHF Tournament basketball game on 08 February 2015. In the end, Father Fechner ruled to give the parent a lesser penalty. Many on the Board expressed their disappointment in Father's ruling. - April Holy Name meeting will announce Bill McEntee Memorial Student/Athlete award Track, Rick Lux - Not in attendance. No report. Baseball/Softball Umpires, Mike Werkmeister - St. Simon has 15 qualified umpires. 4 new this year. Softball Lay Director, Mike Lampe - 3 Teams in Softball. 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade. - Rosters turned in. - Sending out reminder to parents not to park in Simon Says parking spaces until 6pm.

Baseball Lay Director, Rich Kinkade - 7 teams in baseball in grades 3-8. 6th grade has 2 teams - Probably 2 High School teams (VanDeReit and Schwab) - April 7th is the Mandatory Head Coaches Meeting at Assumption - March 20 Season starts - May 10 is the last day to turn in supplementals. - Spirit games are not in South County, nor is City/County Playoffs - May 15 is the deadline to order CYC cards for Baseball/Softball - Thanks to Job Bader and Tim Cunio for cleaning up Batting Cages Baseball/Softball Intramural Director, Dominic DeClue - Registration closed 10 March - TShirts ordered for PK. Recall, we use new jerseys for 2nd Gr and old jerseys for K-1. - Chuck has written $250 check to pay QAS for "scheduling fee". While a lot, it is better than the $50/team that was suggested which would have been over $600 since we have 12 teams (5 PK; 3K; 3First; 1Second) - Intramural on our fields begins 27 April. Softball/Baseball Field Coordinator, Steve Abelyn - Not in attendance. Out of town. - Mike Lampe will help Steve in Steve's absence (however in early April it was learned that Steve was no longer out of town on a long term work assignment).

Soccer Lay Director, Brian Kopff - Looking to open soccer registration May 8 for three weeks. - Parochial tryouts in May. Date TBD Soccer Intramural Director, Adam Perkins - Not in attendance. No report. Soccer Referees, Vacant Soccer South County Head Ref, Tim Fleming - Yes, South County CYC will have parochial soccer in 2015. Soccer Field Coordinator, Dennis Chastonay - Not in attendance. No report. Volleyball Lay Director, Missy Knaub - Looking to call Dave Mertens to discuss upcoming duties Volleyball Referees, Vacant Volleyball Gym Coordinator, Maureen Brummett - Could not attend. No Report.

Facility Maintenance Director, Mike Auer - Fields will be laser graded in early April. - After performing, we will need rebury base pegs. - Will ensure that we inspect light poles soon. - Will look into seeking and aerating.

Basketball Lay Director – Boys and Girls, Mark Braun - 3 teams won their division or district and will receive trophies at the May Holy Name meeting. Several others found themselves in the South County Playoffs. Congrats to all teams for a great year. - 40 uniforms still out to obtain back. - We need to recognize the caliber of officials that we have at Simons. 4 of the 27 to work City/County Playoffs were from St. Simon. Basketball Gym Coordinator, Vacant. Basketball – South County 6th Gr Coordinator, Jeff Arndt - No report. Basketball Referees, Tim Fleming - Seconded Mark's report about our officials. 6 Simon officials officiated South County CYC Playoffs. Equipment Director, Bob Schaefer - Have old uniforms boxed up - Thanks to Dennis Chastonay for bringing up family help to help with uniform distro - Thanks to Jay Lewis for helping - We have an acct with Johnnie Macs, but things are hard to get - Equip room upgrades going slower than expected, but looking great. South County CYC Representative, Annick Josse - Annick presented Dave Schwab and Scott Milsark as CYC Persons of the Year at the March South County CYC meeting. - Will pay South County CYC for Board attendees at South County CYC banquet Registration Director, Scott Milsark - Not in attendance. Concession Stand Director, Rob Ruh - Not in attendance. Bob Spencer provided report - Spent 2400 on a compressor for primary (beer) cooler - $900 in balance. - Down 10k from 2013 to 2014.
