Chapter 8: Photosynthesis
For this unit, we will be studying how plant cells (and some Protists) get their own energy through photosynthesis. We will focus on the two stages of photosynthesis (light dependent reactions and light independent reactions), the other names by which they are know (light reactions, dark reactions, Calvin Cycle). Specifically we’ll look at where inside the chloroplast they take place, the materials they start with, the useful products that they make and the waste products that are left over. At the end of the unit, a mixed format (multiple choice, diagram, short answer) test is given. We will use this information in the next chapter to compare and contrast how cells use their energy in a process called cell respiration.
