AAA Reading-Berks is seeking an experienced Generalist Human Resources Manager to operate a one-person department in an office environment. This position plans and administers policies and procedures relating to all phases of human resources activity for 65 employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following list shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements inherent in this job:  Assist managers to recruit, interview, and select employees to fill vacant positions.  Prepare and conduct new employee orientations, as well as exit interviews.  Maintain and update employee personnel files.  Keep records of benefits plans participation such as insurance, 401(k) plans, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.  Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.  Administer benefits programs such as health, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, 401(k) plan, etc.  Act as contact for employee inquiries with regard to benefits, payroll, policies and procedures, as well as employee concerns.  Prepare and transmit bi-weekly payroll computations to outside payroll firm and create accounting reports associated with payroll.  Prepare employee information reports requested by government agencies, department managers and executive management.  Prepare and submit monthly and year-end 401(k) reports to financial institution.  Share in duties as scheduled for opening and closing of Club office.  Support management team with disciplinary actions and problem solving scenarios based upon policies and procedures.  Assist in preparation of Board meetings.  Coordinate employee and Open House events.  Investigate accidents and prepare reports for insurance carrier.  Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.  Prepare and update employee handbook and policy manuals.  Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations if needed.

Qualifications  High school diploma or general education degree and previous related experience and/or training.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as government regulations, safety rules, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees of the Club.  Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to travel for education and Club representation in functions pertaining to field.  Valid driver’s license.  Personal characteristics of being alert to details, sensitive to confidentiality relating to privileged management information and personnel records, and conscientious to perform quality service.  Interpersonal skills needed to interact with staff and outside businesses.  Motor skills enabling infrequent twisting, bending, reaching, and walking.  Ability to be on the feet approximately 50% of the time either walking or standing in one position.  Available to work additional hours and weekends.
