SH CONTEMPORARY 2014: RETURN & EVOLUTION

Aug. 15, 2013, Shanghai, China – BolognaFiere China has signed Letter of Intent with Centre of International Cultural Exchange, the state institution under China Ministry of Culture directly, providing service for international cultural communication exclusively.

SH Contemporary, which is launched from 2007, will be renamed as ‘BolognaFiere Shanghai International Contemporary Art Exhibition’ (hereinafter to be referred as ‘BolognaFiere SH Contemporary’) from its new edition next year. In September 2014, SHC’s return and evolution aim at providing an extraordinary feast of contemporary art ever to art lovers, collectors and VIPs from Asia-Pacific region and across the world.

In the heat of contemporary art fairs throughout Chinese market, fans of Chinese contemporary art and the author alike, would like to know why SH Contemporary 2013 is suspended and for the reason that might be artistic circle manipulating or new generation brewing?

To respond to public guess, Mr. Duccio Campagnoli, President of BolognaFiere Group, and Ms. Oriana Ouyang, General Manager of BolognaFiere China (BFC), the wholly-owned subsidiary of BolognaFiere Group said, “We haven’t continued ‘SH Contemporary’ this year, because we were exploring new directions. Since entering China, ‘SH Contemporary’ has established a leading position among those art fairs in Asia, and awarded international reputation with its great dynamism. For various reasons, we couldn’t go on with the former partner. As for the new partner, we are very pleased to ally with such an authoritative and powerful organization to re-launch SH Contemporary together.”

Mr. Campagnoli also added, “As a platform of cultural communication and exchange between China and Italy, even globally, ‘SH Contemporary’ receives extensive attention from Italy. SHC was and will be always a bridge for foreign culture, art and other more wonderful things to accede to Mainland China. Furthermore, renewed name of the upcoming art fair undertakes expectation of public towards the art exhibition to be much more international-standard and industry-frontier oriented.”

The art world will welcome a brand new era of ‘BolognaFiere SH Contemporary’ in next September. How ‘SH Contemporary’ will fight back to the field in 2014, and how BolognaFiere Group will utilize international resource from its global exhibition background and strength onto China market, will definitely draw attention from people who fascinating in SH Contemporary and art related professionals. It is also reported that, Centre of International Cultural Exchange jointly with BolognaFiere China will hold a press conference in the near future and announce more details about ‘BolognaFiere SH Contemporary’.
